3rd row seat "ready"?

I read a post by someone saying their 4Runner was 3rd row seat "ready", in that it had the latches/holes in the floor. Are all 4Runner's like this? I noticed some have a tray (double decker?) in the back, and was curious if they all had the 3rd row seat latches in the floor under this tray?

Also, is it correct that the 3rd row seats were made available in 2004+?

I currently own a 1992 FJ80 and am looking to get into a 4th gen 4Runner, and I'd really like to find one with a 3rd row seat.

From what I have seen, the ones that have the 3rd row are different from the ones without, and I haven't seen any that are "3rd row ready" if they didn't originally come with a 3rd row. The clips in the floor might be there still under the carpet, but the mounts that are in the humps on the side in the cargo area arent there either.

Also, the 2nd row for the ones w/o a 3rd row fold flat, where as mine (with the 3rd row) fold and then flip forwards against the front seats to allow people to get in the back. Also, mine have a recline option in the 2nd row that the non-3rd row trucks do not (AFAIK).

If they are saying it is "3rd row ready" it might be a truck that originally had a 3rd row but the seats got lost.

Good luck with the hunt. My wife was insistent on getting a 3rd row too. I looked at tons of 4runners on Craigslist and at local dealers before I finally found one that had one.

Thanks for all the info! I'd really also like a V6, but it seems like all the ones I've been finding for sale with the 3rd row have been V8's. Might have to compromise...
 
I have a 4th gen that I added 3rd row to, the entire rear area is different, not just the 2nd row, but there are no bolt provisions, and it is missing some mounting hardware that is part of the truck body. I added the fold and tumble 50/50 split rear seat for mine, works great and at a fraction of the cost. Now that the middle boy is old enough, we are pulling the 3rd row back out to free up some camping gear room.

I know this is a really, really old thread but do you have any pics of the seat you had put in your old truck? My kids are getting to the age where we are needing to pick up their friends but don't have enough seats.

I do not have pictures. BUT

They were made by rampage for jeeps (old CJs). At the time they were the only fold and tumble seats on the market. Link here.
