3rd row seat

I emailed little passenger seats regarding adding just 1 jump seat as I dont want to take up too much room in the rear of my Runner. They sent me a couple of phtoos and thought y'all may like to see them. I am probably going to order one of these later today. Perfect example of why I love this thing: we have friends in town who have a baby and between the 3 of them, my wife, myself, and our baby we have to take 2 cars to the ballgame tonite. If we had the jumpseat we'd be able to go in 1 car. I have asked the manufacturer a few questions regarding safety and will post up their responses for all to see. Thanks.

its not about comfort with something like this. its about short trips around town. Plus, young kids out of car seats would think the coolness of sitting back there would greatly outweigh the comfort/discomfort factor. Just my opinion.

I'm sure it's illegal to have a passenger seat not facing to the front... in case of impact, there is no front / back support. The safety belt is made to hold you for a rear end / frontal collision. By the law, the only way to change seat, is to use factory anchorage.. Double check this before !!!

My guess is it is not illegal or they wouldnt be manufacturing the product still. However I can see where a side facing seat is not as safe in the event of a crash. A rear facing seat seems liek a terrific option, it just takes up a lot of space. Looking on their website it seems they have a pic of a 3rd gen with a rear facing seat, and it has what looks to be much more comfortable that the side facing seat and still leaves room for dogs.

I doubt that because a lot of older ext'd cab trucks have the little fold down seats on each end .
