3vze ac problems

Driving to work with my AC on low, I heard a loud belt screech for about a second then it went away turned off my AC, no problems....pulled up to a stop sign turned on my AC idle drops to 500, when ever I would turn my AC on it would automatically jump to about 850-900..

This is the second time I heard the belt screech both times it was when I was in gear deaccelerating...first time I noticed my drop in idle, AC still blows cold...

Anyone got an idea compressor going out?

I would guess that your compressor is starting to freeze up. I would replace it. I can't imagine that they're very expensive.

Ok so I don't know if I should change out just the clutch or if I should just throw in a new compressor..new compressor 390something denso brand new...new clutch assembly 100
.

But if I do go the compressor route what else should I change with it?
If I do it I'm gonna throw in a new Rad n thermostat/upper lower hoses but as far as AC components what else should be changed?

Are you crazy? I got a quote from a shop in Florida for a '94 Buick. New A.C. compressors will cost you at least $700 installed and buying used is a waste of time. If they sit for any length of time without use, they become totally inoperable. I'ld like to know where you can buy a new one for $400. I imagine, too, that the quote didn't include the clutch assembly.

When you turn on your ac, does the screech come on then stop after a little? & Also, the RPM jump with the AC on is normal, it will raise to 800-900 rpm for a little, then drop to normal, then raise back up, etc. etc. But check the belt, if anything or check eBay for the compressor. I have one at my house for my '92 but I plan on keeping it

Yup screech then stop...but when the AC is on I can hear a scraping sound so I know something's up...I took the belt off for now, and car quest has a denso comp with clutch for around 400 labor will be done by myself but I have a friend who will discharge the system for me

Each component needs individually cleaned and nitrogen finish cleaned, drier/filter replaced, when you replace the compressor or it is soon ruined.

Read/use the spec amount of oil & freon.
