Hi,

What is the distance from the L-CAM to the R-CAM marks? I do not have original timing belt, so i need to know this to proper set the timing.

I mean this distance:

I'm sorry, but why? If you have the marks properly aligned on the two cams and the crank, you're good. Rotate the engine a couple of times to make sure it's aligned correctly and the job is done.

Amen! That's it, I just did mine. Much simpler than I thought it would be, well at least from the stories I have heard. Align the notches and it's set.

I had read a lot of stories about hard alignment. I'm preparing myself for timing belt job I will try to align the timing notches, put the timing belt and 2x 360 rotate the engine. Hoping that the timing marks will be back aligned again.

You were right, it was simple
I have used two cable ties to hold belt in one place. Without them timing belt tension is rotating cams. After releasing tensioner you need to cut them

Timing belt replacement

Just finished mine today, At the start I too read all the horror stories, i followed an old thread from this site, came up with a simple solution of breaking the cam bolt loose (2x6x48") [three holes drilled and shoot no problem], and two short days of wrenching and one day of cleaning and painting all parts. Ole 94Blue was pulling fallen trees off the roads after today's storm.

The easiest way is to shift into 5th gear and put a friend inside a car to hold brake pedal pushed.
