4,000 mile maintenance light

I searched the forum with no results, so here it goes...Ok so this is my first vehicle by anyone besides Chevrolet in 25 years. We've had it since only 3 miles on the ODO and 2 months. We just hit over 4K miles and now we're getting a "maintenance required soon" message in the DIC. When I look at the schedule, it doesn't seem like anything that would need to reset the message. So am I missing anything and what do I do to reset that message?

What model year is your 4Runner?

It's probably warning you for an up coming oil change.

My wife's 2011 Rav4s ECU is programmed for 5k maintenance light. I change my 07 4Runner oil with 6-7k. I don't ever pay attention to the MAINT light. Just reset Trip B to monitor my mileage between oil changes.

It's a 2016. Service manual says oil change is at 10k...I'm a good bit away from that still.

Do you do your own oil changes? Just start on whatever oil change interval you desire. The dealership probably programmed it into Entune so that you can come in. Just reset it yourself.

I normally do my own servicing but I get them free till 36k miles. So do I go to the Entune on the 4 runner or on my iPhone app?

If you have the service manual (maintenance log), you should see that before the 10,000 mile service the 5,000 mile service is indicated. It is nothing more than a tire rotation and quick look over of the vehicle, barring you operate your vehicle under normal conditions.
Unless something changed between 2015 and 16, the maintenance log should give you this information.
The notification comes on prior to the 5,000 mile check just to give you ample time and to make you aware of the upcoming service.
Also, look at page 340 of your owners manual, believe it or not the answer to your question is in there!

So it must be a little different or the fact that we received digital manuals instead of paper but the pic shows page 340 of ours...

however I was able to play around with the T4R onboard mxs app and adjust my intervals per the manual for our maintenance. Thanks though.
