Gotcha, I guess that’s a plus for sure. I suppose not having to replace the crush washer is another plus as well. Do you remember the part number of the one you bought?

I would get this one: F103S | Fumoto(R) Engine Oil Drain Valves

I purchased a different one with a side opening, requiring an elbow connection and found it very difficult to use reaching up through the access hole.

Cut the included hose to the right length and straighten it a few days before use. I shoved a thick wire through the hose. Otherwise it remains crimped and slows the oil flow.

I change mine myself with walmart brand synthetic oil. I generally order an oil filter on amazon in advance. All in around $28 each time.

You can change it without jacking the car up. I don't think it would be possible to change the oil without removing the skid plate. It's only 4 bolts if I remember correctly.

I like the idea of those drain valves but the thought of it failing and oil draining while driving scares me too much!

I had the same thought about the Fumoto, especially (neurotically) concerned about something pushing the lever up accidentally - like from the pressure of an under-car spray at the car wash. Surprisingly enough, the valve lever has to be pulled down and then rotated to drain. Only other real possibility for failure is something whacking it and breaking - but then again, that’s what the skid plates are there to protect.

I’ve had mine for two years without issue, but I keep a spare drain plug in the glove box just for reassurance. My 2 cents.

i use regular dino 5w30 every 5k with a motorcraft filter. burns no oil. also the location of the drain plug being straight down i barely get any if not no oil on my fingers.

I used a Fumoto on my last truck for 10 years and about six years on the current 4R (both the nipple version). I use Mobil 1 0W-40 which is considered a light 40. I changed my front skid to an RCI and it looks like there is more room now to possibly get the filter out with the use of a Form-a-Funnel. We'll see in about 2500 miles!

ive made drain funnels before but that product looks interesting...local stores carry them?
