4 runner MODS

I just got my 99 4runner limited (pictures soon)

I was wondering what are the most common mods for this suv, for example can i do the Deck plate Mod? is there a significante improvement on performance with this Mod like in the tacomas>?

Also in tacomas there is a mod called "the gray wire mod" basicly lets you engage the RR locker diff with out having to be in 4LO.

Any other cheap/free cool mods? Thanks

I did the deckplate mod last week. It was much easier than I thought! I would recommend it. Get a holesaw though, the dremel method is messy and a pain in the ass.

Did you noticed any difference as far as performance>?

A little, its hard to tell becuase the increase in engine noise tends to give the illusion of power. The tires will break loose in a corner easier than before. I believe I have more acceleration in the top end RPMs. I put in a K&N at the same time.

I did the deckplate mod a few weeks ago and to be honest, I didn't notice much of a increase in power.

However, when going up hills or in higher RPM's it does make a noticeable roar that I really like. Only during hill climbing do I notice a very, very small amount of extra power that wasn't there when it was stock.

Here ya go. Basically, you increase airflow to your engine like an intake system does, but its cheaper.

Oh, okay I see. So basically just pulling off the elbow to let more air in but putting a filter on it? lol. Because my friend just pulled the elbow off on my first car.

Yeah but you cut a big hole and install a "screw out deck-plate" so you can close up the hole and make it water tight if you going offroad and what-not.
