Hey guys i just bouhgt a 95 4runner 4wheel drive 3.0 i believe. My problem is that when i have it in 4wheel drive h4, when i turn around in a coldasac my front wheels almost seem like they are locking up? Also sometimes when i am turning my left front make a clicking sound. My step dad said that was normal though? Does anyone know what could be going on with my 4wheel drive and turning around?? Thanks!

Yes its normal. Its just binding in tight cornering. Try to only use 4wd at very low speeds.
Cool thanks! One more question. When i am sitting at a light or something my suv has a hard mis fire every once and awhile. I am going to do a tune up on it here shortly to see if that helps. Just wondering if there are any commen problems that occur on these 4 runners that would make it miss a little. It does not do it when i am driving at all just when i'm sitting still. Thanks.

About the misfire If the plugs and wires have never been changed then I would try that.
Also check the air filter. If its really dirty then I would try cleaning the MAF that is the cheapest option first.
Yes the 4wd is ok in the 4runner but its really needs a LSD or a locker in the back and it would be sooo much better. Im going to get an Aussie locker soon hopefully lol

I'd start with plugs, wires, cap, rotor. Chances are they are getting old anyway. Congrats on the purchase

Put the front end up in the air and with your hands at 3 and 9 o clock rock the tire back and forth. If there is movement, time for tie rods. Hands at 12 and 6 will tell you if you got bad ball joints.

put jack in secure spot under control arms, shake it a little after its up to make sure it wont slip off while your hands under the tire. or bring it to a tire store (Big O or les shwab) that does free rotations and while they rotate your tires ask em to shake down the front end. won't cost anything and they'll be doing the work
Ok guys one more question. When i hit the brakes to slow down, my suv pulls to the right reallt hard almost like the right front brake is the only one working or something. I do know when i got my suv the brake pedal went all the way to the floor and barely stopped. After driving like that for a day (i planned on bleeding them the next day) all of a sudden my brakes went to normal. Everything has been normal since then except for the pulling and dipping to the right. I'm thinking there might still be a air bubble in the system and it might be making the right front brake work before the other one. ALSO lol on a could start after sitting all night (Temp is 27 degrees F) it takes a few cranks to start it up. Do you guys think this might be part of me just needing a tune up? Does a after market intake give you any extra gad mileage or is there any mods or anything that can give me any extra gas mileage.

Brake problem: Sticking LF Caliper or slide- Rec replace caliper, and grease slides. while your in there check to see that theres plenty of pad and if those need replacement do those as well since you'll have it apart. Machine rotors if they can be cut or replace.
Cold Start: That kind of temp is hard on a battery, depending on how old it is you probly need a replacement
What gas mileage you getting? the 3.0 isn't good on mileage all around, My 22re gets 18mpg with all my upgrades/mods and it got that before the upgrades. 18 is probly around the best it will get depending on the size of your tires. If your getting better dont worry about it

and you sound new to this car mechanics thing, Iwould suggest having a mechanical savy buddy help you get the basics down before you start tearing into stuff. theres key steps that shouldnt be forgotten especially if your going to be fiddling with the brakes:roadkill:
Ok i will check the calibers and all that the next nice day there is. I'm not sure about the battery but will keep that in mind. I am pretty sure the tires are stock. I am getting around 13 mpg lol so i for sure have to get a tune up and figure out what is going on. But i have been drifting in the snow alot so i've been hitting the gas a little harder. But i will meassure the mileage once i do the tune up and everything. Hopefully it goes back up lol because 13 isn't cutting it haha.
Well i'm not to new i've been working on CARS lol for about 3 years. SUV's i'm new to. I have not really looked at how to jack it up or anything because its been in the teens temps recently. I'm also in my second year in auto mechanics in college. I'm just trying to get suggestions and opinions on everything since thes is my first SUV 4wd vehicle. But i definitly am new to SUV's though.
What do you mean? It doesn't click when i drift only when i turn rreally sharp every once in awhile.
