Does anyone have an idea why the center differential lock light and the 4 wheel drive indicator lights just blink and the 4 wheel drive will not engage, just blinking lights......2006 4 Runner...help::sobbing:

I don't know much about this, but I have seen some posts which said that the electronic actuator that actually engages the 4wd can become seized if it's not engaged on a somewhat regular basis. The previous poster is correct that you can find many threads dealing with this subject.

Yeah, because you're actuator is seized. Try engaging it on the go. Put it in 4hi, and then down shift to neutral and back to drive, or try stepping on the brake. Always works for me.

Cannot get mine into four-wheel drive and I'm getting noise near the transfer case.

Putting it into four-wheel drive has been an issue for a while it would make a grinding noise and then not go into gear. It's been in the shop several times they can't seem to figure things out. Now I'm getting a noise that sounds like it's near the transfer case. The shop says the transfer case is going bad however there is no problem with any gears all gears work fine there is no slippage and the noise only continues in the forward motion. The noise comes and goes.
Any suggestions?
