Drop the driver side under dash.
On the bottom left of the fuse box you will see a red wire with a yellow trace. That is 12volt trigger for reverse light. It's in a 16 pin plug.

Several ways to do it. Get a double pole double throw relay
30 is power source
86 is 12 volt coming from reverse
87 is going out to the lights
85 is ground

That will give you a power source to rub the lights.

Now here is the fun stuff.
How to turn on with out turning on the reverse lights and back feeding power to the transmission! And possiblely messing up the trans?

Simple, two 3 amp does you buy from radio Shack. Yes that simple.

Here is a quick diagram i drew up using the diodes. Make sure the band on the diode is in the correct side. the band prevents power from flowing back into the other side back up into the reverse circiut in the car. Its simple once you grasp the concept of what a diode does. cool thing is if you flip the diodes around and use it in a negative circuit it will block ground from flowing back!

When the brackets are done, I think I'm going to black them out to match the bar, also considering color matching them like i did my grille.

update, made the second side today. Accidentally sheared the head off a bolt with my impact, gotta grab a new one tomorrow.

That'll be badass, especially with the caps on. IMHO, you should either paint the brackets silver or the rack black, to make it look more like one piece. I just like OEM look

Let's see how long that stays on your truck before someone else realizes that light bar looks better on their truck. We are in West Philadelphia bro. Locals go shopping in your neck of town when ever school starts. Plenty of sub urban kids with sub urban habits, leaving valuables in plain site, doors unlocked, ect. Just a warning if you didn't realize where you are brother. I am not the biggest compustar dealer in Philadelphia for nothing. I have noticed the trend to 4x4 look in the last year from the donk look. Don't get me wrong 26s on a 2002 Buick Park Avenue is still a popular urban trend, but more and more customers ask about my 4runner vs the turbo s porsche Cayenne that has a tech art body kit, lowered, black out and on 22s and costs 5x as much. It's the lifted rugged look now that's coming into trend.

Thanks guys, I thought about doing the bar brackets to match my truck like I did my grille, but it was too much effort - i'd have to repaint the bar and blah blah so I think the touch of black up there will look good with everything else, but I don't want to over do it, so the roof is gonna stay color matched for now. I'll see how it all looks when I get the trimmed caps back on. I really had to trim them since the bar sits so low, I may have to silicone them in place

I'll never forget where I am, one of my roommates just got robbed at gunpoint, there are constant reminders, lol

Few ideas I had for this:

1) take it off
2) I used allen head bolts to secure it to the brackets, so I was thinking of filling them with JB weld and then heating them up every time I needed to remove the bar, JB weld will pop right out with some heat.
3) welding the bolts to the brackets
4) lol @ "donk look"

If you live where I think you live, then yeah, could be worth considering. Then again, you are graduating soon. When I was living at St Joesph's University (many moons ago), I had my SUV broken into. Bastards smashed the rear passenger window, but took nothing as campus security wasn't far away, but I still wanted "incur great pain" onto them.

I'll think of something. Steve suggested an alarm that will activate if the truck is moved by 1.5 degrees or something very sensitive. I'm also going to cover the bolts with some little black cover thingies he gave me after I aim it a little better. here are a few night shots - it is BRIGHT.

Thiefs in the night?

Nice setup, I thought about puting them on mine but didnt think about extending the rack. It looked like its in the middle of sunroof so I tossed the idea. This is a great idea, thanks...

Now' as far as stealing, there is a quick way to stop a thief in his tracks and maybe catch him quickly too. Back in the day I had several big amps/stereo equipment & used to line the back of them with razer blades so a thief would slice his fingers so bad he'd need stiches. If he does/dont get your stuff report it, just tell the cop to go check hospital records he'll see who's been stealing peoples items if your not the only victim...
Just say'n there are ways to stop them from messing with your stuff for good.
Even my car batteries had them on the bottom edges back then.
Only thing I lost was my first big amp, but before & why I put blades on stuff so I never had to clean any blood up, but I know it works well. Just dont forget you done it and cut yourself..lol
