Last April, when everyone was supposed to stay home, our local gas price dipped to $1.06/gal.
Currently $2.75.

You talk as if it wasn't his money to begin with. The government has no money to give, they steal it from the taxpayer or in most cases the tax payers children and grand children, but right now its only $240,000 per tax payer that needs to be paid back. so let the handouts continue.

See the thing is I don't care either. Particularly if you are a conservative or a liberal or D or an R, or a fkn snowflake, you are talking about politics NOT gas prices. I think anyone talking politics is full of shit. You are spracking non-sense. Go play in someone else's sand box if you want to vomit your political diatribe.
To note, I know al lot of "conservatives". Most are well bred and their parents taught them well...lesson number one to shut the fk up around the dinner table and not talk politics or religion and everyone gets to enjoy good company and a fine meal.

The federal gov has not increased or levied a tax on gasoline since the early 90's. Individual states have their own state taxes levied on gasoline. America is one of the largest producer of crude but has to import more oil from Canada and others to meet its daily demand. Crude is a traded commodity so it should be supply and demand but for the fact that the opec cartel manipulates crude supply. The recent price hikes at the pump are projected to go up as the economy returns to a super pace fueled by free money. Close to $ 4.00/ gallon by the height of summer.

The best part is it’s not even our money any more lol. Either way the gas price increase sucks. I’m just happy to be able to drive a 4Runner! Does it suck to spend $50 + filling up, yep! This is part of the opportunity cost of driving such a kick butt car though!

Why would anyone buy a new 4runner and expect gas prices to remain low for all the years they will own it. At 66 years old I have seen big gas price swings many times with both dem and rep presidents. I remember back in the 2000's gas got to $5 a gallon. I continued to drive my 2003 4runner. I do not drive much so it does not matter to me. If I drove a lot and was on a budget I would be looking for a more efficient vehicle.
The auto industry is going electric no matter who is president. The president can only boost it along. As far as the grid not keeping up listen to this.

The current administration has done a lot to curtail oil production in the US. Reduce domestic production and foreign oil producers are happy to maximize pricing since more oil needs to be imported. This also raises prices of other commodities like milk and eggs.
The fed reserve is also flooding the market with dollars. Too many dollars chasing transactions is driving up prices along with the domestic oil situation.

Should have seen last years covid thread, when anyone tried to speak against all the fear tactics and overreaching government control. Would be interesting to revisit some of the propaganda that was pushed out.

Forget the politics, isn't it unbelievably amazing how much gasoline/diesel/natural gas/gear oil/lube oil, etc. has been harvested from this earth? We think it's never going to end, but one would think it has to someday.
Think too, about how the earth has dealt with all the pollution from fossil fuels so far and we can still breathe. Although if we hadn't wised up 40-50 years ago and put some emission regs in place, I couldn't make that statement.

I would consider myself a conservative, and I have never owned a car from an American company. The Toyota Sienna was built in the US, but the rest have all been foreign built.
My cars have all been German (VW), Japanese (Toyota) or Swedish (Volvo). My last four have been Toyotas.
I have a brother who’s a mechanic, and if I ever ask him about a specific car, he says, “just buy a Toyota.”
