4G Air Bag differences

Anyone know the specifics of how the air bags or safety systems in general have changed since 03?

For example: in '04 "roll sensing" fr/rr head/side curtain airbags were introduced. However, in 03 there was still "fr/rr/ head/side curtain air bags. What gives?

One of the reasons I went with the Limited was to get as many safety options as possible, perhaps I should have been shopping for an "04"?

I am not able to give you the history, but the current 4Runner has advanced type airbags in it. This is a new generation of airbags. It is safer, computer knows your weight, and adjusts deployment of bag force based on speed and occupants weight.

Rollover sensing was added in 2004.

WOW! Thank you so much - this information was excellent. I guess the 03 airbags are the same, just the rollover sensor is new, so unless there was an impact they may not deploy.

Do you have anything like this for the VSC or ATRAC?
