4R Sightings

All,

The other day while crusing to work I was noticing how many 03 and 04 4R's I have been seeing on the road of late. Today I counted 13 during my 80 mile commute to and from work. It's amazing, this truck is really catching on!! I noticed someone posted some sales statistics recently that clearly support the popularity this truck is having in the market.

Since I got mine this past saturday I've been seeing more on the roads. Mine is the only one in the parking lot at work.javascript:smilie(':D')

I think everyone is just noticing them on the road because they drive a 4Runner  :D ;):

haha, nah you guys are right. The sales of the 4Runners have really been taking off. Especially since they got rid of the grey body cladding.

In New Jersey, I see a lot of 2003 and 2004 4Runner's while driving around. Whenever I drive by one, I always wave or honk my horn. I used to be the only one to have a 4th gen. 4Runner in my school parking lot, but now my friend got a 2004 silver Sport about a month ago. I was surprised when I saw it in the lot. Whenever I see a 4Runner in a parking lot, I always make an attempt to park next to it! I am very immature!! :bonk:

RE: Mark 86

HaHaHaHa I do the same thing!!! I try to cruise behind the 4th gens on the road and park next to them also.

Here in Pittsburgh I haven't seen too many. Have only seen one with my exact stock configuration. I'd say I've seen 10 at most since I've gotten mine a year ago.

They are popular but no more then the 3rd Gens cause I still see alot of them, about a month or 2 ago I went to the Home Depot and when I came out their was 3 other 4th Gens, 1 with cladding, a 3rd Gen Limited a Tundra and a GX470, each parked every other spot;): I thought it was pretty cool but it was like 3 degrees and windy so I left:)

I'm the same way. I park next to the 4th gen just to see how mine looks next to another 4th gen.

ok i admit it, i do the same thing. god we must be shallow or something. at least i have the only 04 SE in town currently. all the rest are 03 SE with the cladding or 04 SR5/Limited's. easy to spot the 03 SE since they usually have the cladding.

whats really sad, i have my 4runner as a wallpaper at home/work. plus i ripped out the 2 page photo (silver 4runner sitting at 11k ft looking down on the 8k airplane) from the brochure and pinned it on my wall.

now thats shallow. :D

NoDak, I am exactly the same way. I have my 4Runner as my wallpaper on my computer, 8.5X11 pictures hanging on the door in my room so I see it when I walk in and whenever it snows out, I always bring my digital camera so I can take pictures of my truck on snow. I also take pictures of my truck when it is nice out or after I wash it. I also rip out every add I see of the 4Runner. I have an obsession with my 4Runner! :awais:

Yes, I know I'm a geek. But I thought I was around other geeks where I could be free from judgement. :biggrin2:

Yes. I am just as much a geek as you. I am constantly taking picture of my car and cleaning it. It also makes my day when I see another 4th gen. I am also one of those people who read all of the reviews and articles about the 4Runner.

I hate to point this out, being new to the forum, but..... did you realize that you called your TRUCK a CAR.

I am sorry. I was not thinking and just typed "car". I should have typed "truck". I did not mean to refer to my truck as a car. Good point though!;):

when i had my 98 runner, driving my wife's tacoma was a heck of alot smoother ride. once i got the 04 runner, then going back to drive my wife's tacoma, i couldnt stand the rough ride of her truck compared to the new runners.

i guess you could say it rides more like a car than the older gens. it wont handle like a car though.

Biff, I was just joking. My wife harrasses me all the time about my fascination with the 4Runner and vehicles in general. For instance I always point out the other 4Runners on the road when we pass them and then she just looks at me like I'm crazy and weird.
