This question deals with after market paint protection. Has anyone any thoughts or experience with waxing their new 4Runner? I would like to use a wax but have heard that it might void the paint protection warranty or damage whatever is used by the factory/dealership.

Someone in the 5th gen section, can't remember who, had their car coated with OptiCoat pro which is suppose t be very durable, permanent, and no need to wax anymore after more.

Seen a few vehicles online with it. Looks great. Theres a shop in my town that does it, thinking about getting it done myself

3M clear cover. You can always wax it. There's no voiding the warranty for waxing lol. If someone told you that which lead to your question I would slap them upside the head. Make sure your blinker fluid is the correct Toyota required fluid as well or they'll get you.

beware there are lots of dealers that are trying to sell you products that are nothing but glorified wax for hundreds of dollars...get your self a wax that has a high content of carnuba and apply it yourself. save your hundreds.

Hi, I purchased a '14' Trail in Feb. I , while looking for a really good wax years ago, asked a friend that owns a paint & body shop. He turned me on to this product. PolymerII Paint Sealant. It is sold by Car Beauty Pro. I got mine online as they don't sell it in town anymore. He told me that when the dealers sell you the expensive paint protectant, they drop the car off at his shop and he waxes it with this stuff. I have 5 coats on my new 4Runner, it really looks good. I've used it on other vehicles and the paint seems to last forever, or until it gets caught in a bad sandstorm. Nothing helps then!! Hope this helps, Fly_Addict
