4Runner 4.10 Elocker

I know 4.10 4Runner E-lockers are rare, but anyone know what specific years/models/etc had these? I have an 02 Sport which came with 4.10 non-locker rear and I'm trying to keep things on somewhat of a budget.

Best luck to find a donor tuck with matching gears or someone selling front and rear

I think you misunderstand. I'm trying to avoid re-gearing my front, so i'm trying to find out which 4Runners came with 4.10 elockers from the factory.

I believe that you're looking for an early (96-98) locked 4Runner with a V6 and 5 Speed.

I think DeathCougar would know for sure.

Additionally, many Tacomas have a 4.10 elocker. I don't know which, but I know they're much more common than a 4.10 in a locked 4Runner.

Thanks! You are right, the vast majority of 1st gen Taco elockers were 4.10's, unfortunately their axle's are set up for leafs vs coils.

Either way your axle is going to need to be modified to accept an elocker diff.

The modifications needed to your axle will be the same whether you're installing a Tacoma or 4Runner differential into your 4Runner axle. They're both an 8".

I guess what I am trying to say is that once the differential is removed for the axle, a Tacoma 4.10 elocker and a 4Runner 4.10 elocker are the same thing, and your axle will need the same work to accept either.

Ideally, it would be nice to find a 4.10 elocker 4Runner complete axle to drop right in.

He wants to swap entire axle not just the diff.

To op you may end up having to buy front and rear them swap both. I've been on lookout for 410 locker and yet to find one in 5 years.

If I remember correctly, 4.10 is somewhat common in Tacos and much rarer in 4runners. If its in a 4runner, my understanding is that you'll only find it in 3rz, 4wd, 5 speed.

You'll have a much easier time finding a 4.30 in either 4R/Taco and doing a retrofit of the rear axle housing while also pulling and swapping the whole front diff from the donor truck.

3.4, w/ a 5speed should be what you want.
I found one from drum to drum for 600 bucks. i also got the dash button, the locker computer and wiring harness......

You must not be looking hard..... I found one within a week of looking.

Well after the first year I stopped looking really hard. I had trouble finding a 410 locally and gave up. Putting my money and time elsewhere. Usually when I found one and message the guy it was already sold.

Thanks buddy, that's just the info I wanted. Do you know if those 5 speeds 96-98 only like someone else mentioned?

4.30 would be better for bigger tires.... so like i said. just save ur self a headache and find rear and front matching and just swap it

I just got a 4.3 to swap out the whole rear axle for my manual tranny with 4.1 to replace the non-locker, I'll do the front as well. I'll be a bit slower on the highway but I don't like going fast anyways.

I managed to find a 4.10 drum to drum axle to swap in. They're out there. It's just a matter of how long you're willing to wait and how far you're willing to drive to pick it up

Why not just pull your own diff, take it to a shop, and get an ARB or other locker installed?
Seems a lot quicker than all the fruitless searching, an a butt load easier than swapping the entire axle.

Thanks! I like this idea. And I can knock out axle seals and lines while I'm down there.
