4runner a chick car?

I love my 4Runner and I'm a girl. I actually always look for other 4runners, more to test my 4Runner spotting skills (I've only had mine a few months, now) and to also see what others have done to theirs, so I can get ideas of what to do and what not to do to mine. I actually very rarely look at who is driving them. Mine is my daily driver as well as our weekend recreation vehicle during the summer and hot months to take advantage of the A/C. In the late fall/winter/early spring it's fun to take my boyfriend's FJ40 out (when it's not being rebuilt...)

So, you mention the SR5 and the Limited as possible chick cars... what about the Trail? Us cool chicks need to ride in style and aren't afraid to take it offroad seriously... that's why I have one! And it's a Toyota... 'nuff said.

And for the record, I HATE the mall!

And I've yet to see another woman drive a 5th gen up here in Seattle...

I think a lot of it is the fact that MANY people think that once you have kids, as a mom, you need to drive an ugly minivan and be dubbed a 'soccer mom'... but as soon as you put your rear end into a nice 4-runner, guys get worried...

This is so funny, look at my signature below and all the mods that I have done. So far I've got about 7k in it and I'm waiting on the front bumper and super charger. Do a search on the thread "getting dirty" that's what I bought mine for, not cruising the mall. My 4runner screams everything but chick mobile and yes that's my chopper too!

No, the 4 Runner is not a chick car provided that you define a chick car as "...an appliance void of soul and character." Stereotypically, a chick car is a car that just gets you where you need to go with a premium on comfort and utility. Examples in my mind are the Highlander and the RX. The 4 Runner has loads of character and soul with its emphasis on performance. What makes the 4 Runner exceptional, however, are the creature comforts in addition to (instead of in place of) the performance capabilities. I think that a truck is hardly defined by the gender of the driver. My wife inspired our purchase as the 4 Runner was the truck she dreamed of while we were in college. Props to the female 4 Runner owners who frequent this board. Keep bringin' it!

Our MINI is a chick car and it has far more character and soul than the 4Runner. I mean, the 4Runner is pretty cool, but it doesn't turn heads like our MINI does.

This is my 4th 4Runner. Ive had a 3rd and 4th gen and I still have a 1st gen.

It's not unusual to see women driving an M5. There's a girl at my job who drives her black M5 to work about 3 times per week. On the other days, she drives her black X5 to work instead. And it's the one with the really wide tires on it too! LOL...gotta love her choice of cars.

Wow, I'm not sure where you got your definition, but I'm sure women would be insulted by the idea that they basically choose cars as appliances. If that were true, then women would all be driving Toyota Corollas!

To me, a chick car usually falls into one of two main categories: 1- a large and safe vehicle. For example, any mid-size or full-size SUV. Chicks seem to feel safe in them. And moms appreciate the interior room and utility. 2- a "cute" car that chicks find adorable. For example, a Mini Cooper, the old Toyota Celica, and basically any small VW, especially a Cabriolet.

So using my theory, the guy who owns a 4Runner and a Mini basically has two chick cars! :hatsoff:

I sold my 07 VW GTI last week, too! I had a hat trick of chick cars. haha

Really though, the VW Jetta GLI is the chick version of the GTI. Same running gear but has a trunk instead of a hatch. My wife was not pleased that I sold it, though.

If I had my way, I'd be lining up a purchase of a Mazda MX-5 or Honda S2000 this weekend, but I'm probably going to do the responsible thing and throw my GTI money toward my house.

My wife drives a mustang GT ... it's 5 spd. She drives better than almost all guys (not me). Not like crazy fast chick driver, like decisive quick chick driver. Is a 5 spd mustang GT a chick car?

They must have exemplary taste then. The Miata is such a responsive, fun chassis. I wish they'd make a fixed roof coupe. I'm not big in vert tops. Plus, fixed roofs improve chassis rigidity.
