4runner ads on TV

It'll happen. The current 4Runner makes no sense in Toyota's US lineup - anything it does can be done with something else they already make. I can guarantee that every single person on this board, whatever they use their truck for, could switch to a doublecab Tacoma, Lexus GX, Land Cruiser, or Highlander and not miss a beat. The Highlander and Tacoma are already killing the 4Runner on the sales floor, and I'm sure Toyota would love to see more sales of the upmarket GX and Land Cruiser.

I see one of two things happening - 4Runner will go crossover and Toyota will let it fight with the Highlander and drop whichever one loses, OR Toyota skips the redesign, drops the 4Runner, and maybe brings in the Prado. Maybe. I'm leaning towards the latter, because the 5th gen is nearing the end of it's cycle and there's been no peeps.

I see where your coming from, but I would disagree. I think the 4runner offers a lot more than their other SUVs. Most 4runner owners (that ive talked to or met) would agree that toyota doesn't offer a suitable alternative to the 4runner. Highlanders are most certainly more popular in terms of sales. But just because they sell more volume doesn't mean that the 4runner sales aren't experiencing growth over the past 3-4 years. Recent sales in the 4runner dont compare to their numbers back in the 90s. but they are still showing growth. Why end something thats showing sings of growth? Unless they want to build demand. haha. But you are correct. Could i probably switch to a highlander/tacoma and not miss a beat? yeah for the most part. But theres more to owning a vehicle and being just "content"

This could all be my optimistic opinion but Id like to see what toyota does with the 4runner moving forward.

If they eliminate it, thats no skin off my back. I plan on having my 4runner till i die anyway!
