4runner Aftermarket Lights Help

HI AGAIN EVERYONE HAS BEEN GREAT IN HELPING ME OUT IN ANSWERING ? OF MINE. SO I HAVE ANOTHER ONE! I WANT TO BUY A SET OF AFTERMARKET BULBS FOR MY FACTORY H3 FOGLIGHTS, THE FACTORY H4 HEADLIGHTS AND SIDE MARKERS. I WANT TO GET AS CLOSE TO THE HID LOOK AS POSSIBLE BUT DO NOT WANT TO PAY 299.99 FOR THE CONVERSION KIT. I WAS WONDERING IF ANYONE COULD POST ANY PICS OF THEIR LIGHTS AND WHAT TYPE THEY USED. IF ANYONE ELSE IS LOOKING TO DO THE SAME THING I BE WILLING TO ORGANIZE A GROUP PURCHASE TO SEE IF WE CAN GET A DISCOUNT SOMEWHERE. THANKS IN ADVANCE

From what I've read the Sylvanias seem to have a rather short life expectancy for the price.

Does anyone have any other suggestions. I'm looking for a set of H3's and some 9004's for my 2000 Limited.

From what I hear the Piaa Star white bulbs are better than silverstars(longer life and better color). Im going to order some from:

My Opinion from personal use would be to get the PIAA's from Jason on here. I have had them in for several months and love them. I have Silverstars in my mustang which I like also but I have only driven the car at night a couple of times. The PIAA's have great rain visibilty also.

From a comparison point of view I would definitely pick the PIAA's due to the brighter light output and the visibilty. My PIAA's are in my 2000 runner which has DTRL so they are lasting just fine for me.

I would recommend the PIAA's to anyone and getting them from Jason would be wise.

well i hope that they last awhile for you. you cant buy bulbs with the look of HID, without the short lifespan. usually about a year and they go out. ive had piaas, silverstars, and just the plain OEM ones. i cant stand the oems so i got silverstars. i know they wont last long, but they also dont claim to either. they look better and perform better, so i think its worth it to buy them every year or so.

How exactly do the bulbs burn out?

Am I going to be driving in the middle of the desert and suddenly be lightless?

Or will it fade away, so I have a warning to replace?

they dont give you any warning, they just go out. normally only one goes out, so its a given that the other one is close so you just replace both at the same time.

loosen your pants alittle...take the chain from around your neck and just get the HId's there so worth it. silver stars dont last, nothing compares to TRUE HID.

First of all I DID NOT get silverstars.

Second as Im a student I do no have $$ to afford a HID conversion. So this quick, cheap, simple mod is perfect for me and I'm completely satisfied.

calm down a little bit buddy, i was just pulling your chain...no pun indended. save up some, what ever it takes. in the end run do what you want, this is just me i wouldnt ever go back to stock.

65% of car accidents happen at night so HID sure would help but wouldn't avoid accidents easily. this percentage does not include drunk driving. but yes, stock bulbs isn't as bright at least it's something? HID conversion kit requires money and time which i don't currently have. besides time, i do have.

are you talking about the conversion, or the true HID projectors (from bmw, mercedes, etc)? the conversions are pretty much crap, since our headlights were not made for them, and they throw out too much glare, even with the casper shields. anything over 4100k is also overkill, since its just more blue, and you lose true light output. the true HID RETROFIT is the way to go. but most people dont have the time/money to do it. so id say he did the right thing for what he can do.
