4runner and Fortuner

hello i was just wondering if the T4R and the Toyo FORTUNER are the same only with different names depending on the region/country. i have a fortuner back in the Philippines and they both feels and drive the same. the fortuner has a little bit of an added "uhmmph" though being a V8.

they are different, the fortuner is built in thailnad and is only really popular there and in the philipines... its only sold in south aisia, and central america and northern south america. but it is on a totally different platform than our 4runners

The fortrunner is based on a hilux, and the 4th & 5th 4runners are based on Land Cruiser Prados

The Toyota Hilux and Tacoma diverged during the transition from 1st to 2nd Gen Tacoma. The Tacoma adopted the newer Land Cruiser Prado 120 platform that underpins the 4Runner, FJ Cruiser, Land Cruiser Prado, and GX470; while the Hilux went with a slightly updated ladder frame of its current design.

The Hilux Surf is a rebranded 4Runner essentially and is built on the same frame as the North American 4Runner, even though it has the Hilux name it is built on the Toyota 120 Platform.

Now there's a slight wrinkle in that the 120 platform was updated to the 150 platform in 2010 and this underpins the current Tacoma, FJ Cruiser, GX460, and the 5th Gen 4Runner starting from 2010 and up. The 150 frame is dimensionally the same as the 120 platform, but has reinforced sections and slightly thicker steel in other parts of the frame (I assume as a result of guys beating the crap out of their 120 vehicles and finding some weaknesses in the frame?) Essentially (from all Toyota information and measurements I have seen) you should be able to bolt a 4th Gen body on a 5th Gen 4Runner frame with no real issues and the same should theoretically apply for the Tacoma and FJ Cruiser as their wheel bases and significant frame measurements and mount locations have remained unchanged.
