4Runner delivery hold

what port had an issue with a trd pro install? any clues as to what clearance issue / install issue they had? how long for the inspection / hold to last...any guesses JM?

Having done a bunch of durability testing on all sorts of vehicles, I find it nearly impossible that Toyota would only now notice that there is a tire rubbing issue....that said, anything is possible I suppose. It's also possible that holding the vehicles back will create a bigger demand and a bigger profit for those involved. GL to those that have one coming, the entire situation sounds like a massive load bs.

I have been told the same thing. Was told mine has been at the port in Houston for 2 weeks and should be in by today. Been giving the dealer grief because I already traded in my Tundra last weekend and I am in a rental for the time being. It is really frustrating. I am being told TMS (Toyota Motor Safety) is inspecting the TRD Pro's due to the front tire hitting the bumper or something.

Well, now that the cats out of the bag, TMS (Toyota Motor Sales), the Mothership, is looking into this issue. Like I said before, not all facilities are experiencing the issue, so not sure what the other ports are doing to make this happen. Whatever the resolution is though handed down by Toyota will be implemented on all TRDP's sitting at every port. And yes, still no Inferno, just Chess pieces.

Not gonna lie, I was sorta baffled at this too. The way I was told it occurs is a pretty infrequent maneuver, but somehow it got caught by a port. Not a scheme by the dealers, distributors, or Toyota. However still shocked that they didn't see this before shipping.

Just a suggestion to future buyers of any model. When I ordered mine, I was told 3 weeks. Being a skeptic, I said "you sure"? Of course they said "yes".

So I had a loaner written into my sales agreement (post the 3 weeks) since I had already sold my PF. I drove a used Corolla for 2 weeks - it beat being without.

Yesterday, I was put on the top of the list for a white trdpro. Dealer told me they had only one allowance per month for a vehicle from Japan so they can't give me a definitive eta until the beginning of Nov once they find out if they are offered an allowance. I don't know what's going on. Once they get the allowance, I would then place a $500 deposit. Btw, i've received a trade in offer for my 2013 taco with 36k for $28k. Is that good? Anyone know what the dealer is doing? Am I going to get one before the year end?

I have been told the same thing here in the Nashville area. At this point they have not been very responsive but did tell me that they did not get an allocation for a '15 white Trail Premium. It took me 3 days of phone calls and emails to get that answer so I don't know what's going on. Either they are lazy and don't really care to lose a sale or just don't know what is going on. They said they won't know if they get another allocation until November 3rd.

I'm giving them a few more days to find something. If they don't, I'm getting my deposit back and heading to Maryland to pick up a '14.

They have a black one in Thomasville GA at Thomasville Toyota. I talked to the Internet sales person who even though their internet quoted $41K, he quoted me $46k and change and said they jacked the price due to exclusivity. The same internet sales person emailed me about a trail premium that it turns out they didn't even have.

Long story short, I bought my trail at another dealer but if you really want a trd pro they had one a week ago.

Willing to wait for mine I see non pros with vin numbers within 100 of mine at dealers. So expect mine is at the port just wonder how long the hold is going to delay delivery.

4Runners on hold

I traded in my '13 Tundra last weekend and they stuck me in this smoke ridden Camry rental under the assurance my TRD Pro would be in by Tuesday of last week. I figure I could drive it for a few days. My 4Runner never came in and I voiced my frustrations on Friday to the GM and they upgraded me to a '15 brand new Limited 4Runner for the time being at no extra charge. It sure beats the Camry rental, still anxious to get my Pro asap.

Everyone waiting on a Pro, please update the status on yours on this forum!

I have a call into Autonation for in the morning. That's whose list I'm on.
I'll post if I hear anything...unless JM4runner hears something when he goes back to work this week.

I heard from my salesman that Toyota has decided to modify the fenders on the TRDP models. That sounds weird to me and I'm wondering if he means the fender liners. We'll see. I hope JMRunner has some info for us.

That stinks

I imagine if they have to fabricate new fender liners they are going to really slow down delivery. Hopefully just something the port guys can modify. This stinks as the first shipment in the northeast looks like it just came into port tonight.

This is unfortunate. I'm in the same boat - literally. Some folks in the forum mentioned the pre-production models looked to ride a bit higher than the production models. I wonder if this had anything to do with it.

I still don't understand why there is a tire rub issue. The Pro has stock size wheels and tires, correct?
