4Runner delivery hold

Looks like some TRD Pro Models are moving or at lease getting updates from the port.

Please keep in mind there are a few different ports for Toyota based on your region! Please also PM me your VIN #...Its easier for me to send you back info that way and such.

pasticsdoc I will PM you yours shortly.

some of you already on a train and some of you at Port! :smokin:

Looking over everyones VIN#'s I can tell you that the (HO) Port is very active with shipping these. Most are on a train and rail has departed!

The (NY) Port has not had movement

I have not seen a TRDP vin yet for the Portland Oregon one which my Limited 4Runner came out of and is on a train, all dates matching their eta's.

Where is the HO port
Has anyone heard anything about their trucks in ny nj
Any delivered yet in ny nj?

Went for it!!!

I just committed to an Attitude Black T4r TRD Pro. Dealership in San Diego tells me that it is due any day now. Going down to dealer tomorrow to hammer out the details. Have seen just one here in SoCal.. Wanted a super white, but I'm sick of waiting, and all dealerships here cant promise anything in the future. Black is a compromise color, I do a lot off driving on dirt and jeep trails, I can see this thing looking trashed early. Anyone out there have any experience with vinyl wrap?? What about vinyl wrapping it all white???

My dealer reached out to me today to let me know that the 2015 limited I ordered is at the port (I'm assuming Newark, as my dealer is in NJ) and is awaiting processing. It sounds like he won't have any further information until the vehicle has been processed and is ready for delivery.

Spoke to a dealer in PA this morning
They are showing a black trd on website
They we're suppose to receive a couple weeks ago
Was told it has not come in yet
Being held at port
Dealer does not think any have come out of Newark yet

Received an email from sales manager at local dealer. Indicated that truck is at port being readied for delivery. Said he would have more info tomorrow. Might see it this week. No mention from him about a hold.

This is so crazy. No one seems to be able to get a straight answer out of anyone, and the one guy who actually knew what was going on has not been heard from all week. I hope Toyota didn't send JM4runner to the gulag!

I have only two credible theories:

-they didn't install the lifts at port correctly and they had to find someone who knows what they're doing give the trucks a once-over--since dealerships can't be trusted to do that, they'd just sell them and let the customers worry
-dealerships are crying foul over allocations and more powerful dealer networks are trying to get more trucks to customers so they can price gouge the shit out of them

And one not so credible:

I appreciate everyone's insight and expertise on the 4Runner thus far. I have a few questions :

1. Is the TRD really lifted? I've read somewhere that they are the same height as the TE.

2. What exactly is the suspension capable of doing off road other than Baja racing?
Can the stock trd compete with rubicon trails and rock crawling?

3. How does the ride feel? I've read sturdy. My taco feels light on the highway and doors are flimsy. Does it feel heavy and sluggish or heavy yet capable?

4. Does the trd come with a cargo cover?

5. Is the steering wheel completely wrapped with leather and/or identical to tacoma 2012 and up wheel?

6. Does a large metal pet carrier fit in the back? I got 2 English labs.

Thank you!

I appreciate everyone's insight and expertise on the 4Runner thus far. I have a few questions :

1. Is the TRD really lifted? I've read somewhere that they are the same height as the TE. Front is lifted 1". Definitely looks and feels higher than my 2010 LE did.

2. What exactly is the suspension capable of doing off road other than Baja racing? Providing cushioning so your teeth don't absorb the bumps just like other suspension.
Can the stock trd compete with rubicon trails and rock crawling? Doubtful but still very capable.

3. How does the ride feel? I've read sturdy. My taco feels light on the highway and doors are flimsy. Does it feel heavy and sluggish or heavy yet capable? Truck-like is how I'd describe it. I think heavy yet capable, but you may feel differently.

4. Does the trd come with a cargo cover? Mine didn't.

5. Is the steering wheel completely wrapped with leather and/or identical to tacoma 2012 and up wheel? Not sure what the 2012+ Tacoma wheel is, but feels like leather to me. Smooth on top and perforated on the sides.

6. Does a large metal pet carrier fit in the back? I got 2 English labs. Depends on the size, but lots of space back there.

Thank you!

See my answers above. You're welcome!

Rear cargo room

I forgot this rear photo / I left the car seat for size reference.

You may get better answers in another thread that is not filled with folks that didn't get their TRDs yet. Like this one:

The dealership I dealt with was just newly purchased by a much bigger outfit. They did not even know what I was asking for. Worked out in my favor ( I think), they did not have any allocated to them but traded another dealer for the rights to the one I purchased. They gave me a fair amount of options for free. I think I paid around $1500 less than MSRP (They agreed on a price and gave the vehicle to me that had more.options than I had asked for. They called Toyota every few days to find out that hold up) I'm pretty sure the next yahoo will not get that deal. I have to say, the manager I worked with did an excellent job. But as has everyone else, I had to wait but only about a month total (gave me time to gather funds)

Carolina that makes sense I think your vehicle was built and shipped before the hold. Did yours come from another dealer or the port?

Good to hear. I'm dealing with a dealer who is trying to order one but cannot since they are on hold. No telling if they'll have to get one from another dealer or have any allotted to their dealership. They did give me a price that was around $2000 below MSRP, but no telling how that will pan out after all of these hoops. Also, good to know there's another TRD nearby though. We work uptown Charlotte but live in Fort Mill, SC
