4Runner did its job last night

Was about 100ft from my place last night.. when some fool was flying made a dumb lane change and hit me. He was doing probably 70-80MPH. His cars front end got obliterated. I will try to get pictures of it.
I didnt feel any of the hit.. just heard it.

Any guess on repair costs?
Lift gate is shifted to the driver side and up. It hit the other side of the bumper. I havent opened it yet...

Crush zones are a great thing. Occupants do not absorb the full impact. Whether repairable or not you do not have long term health impact. Hopefully insurance makes it right.

Same thing happened to me a few months ago with my 2003 but on the drivers side. My damage was on the side bumper, tail light and the quarter panel was pushed in about 1", similar to your damage but not as much and my tailgate wasn't touched at all. Total repair cost with painting the quarter panel and the top of the door jams to windshield, was $3k with a turn around time of one week. I'm guessing yours to be $6k - $8k
But if the other guy has Liberty Mutual insurance, be prepared to get screwed. Good luck and keep us posted.

The ******* that hit my girlfriend last month had no insurance, two warrants and no drivers license. She got to eat the whole $500 deductible on her insurance.

If you're in San Diego area Chapparone Auto in Kearny Mesa does great work. Lot of high end repairs, family owned and reasonable pricing. Works with most insurance companies.

I'm glad you're safe and the truck did its job. Hopefully it's not too bad but if it is... New truck!

Better than having to pay out of pocket and hopefully her deductible won't change.

Wow thanks everything is okay I had that happen to my boss at an intersection he flipped 3 times its was a 16 sr5 premium with 108 miles

And he walked out without a scratch and he made me go back to get his lottery ticket on the floorboard and the guy had 2 dui no license and it wasn't even his car that he was driving

I'm pretty sure it doesn't count when they're your own.

I'd let the insurance company have it. Get your wheels and tires off and walk away from it if possible. Don't fight to have it fixed if it comes close. Quarter panel repairs aren't cheap and unfortunately leave the car/truck with entirely too much bond/filler in most cases(along with sand marks and questionable paint work).
