4Runner Drivers Don't Wave?

Ive noticed the same thing owning mine for years. Sometimes the same gen truck will wave but mostly not. I found our online communities are a long nicer than my other forums.

Coming from Mitsu's we where asses on the forum but always wave to each other. Shit we usually waved each other down for a good old street race! (I no longer street race unless on an enclosed unprepped track for disclaimer)

See a ton when I am in another car!!

I always dream of running into a convoy of Toyota trucks on the highway. I've never been in a convoy before, but I think it'd be so rad to be apart of one. Just my luck; I was driving my dad's Ford and ran into a group of lifted/armored 4Runners and Tacomas. :(

He probably thinks he's impressing me or something, but I think he's an idiot.

If you're on here, which I think you may be considering how weird you drive around me, I think you're an idiot.

Or maybe he just drives aggressively all the time. I doubt whether he thinks (or cares) if you're "impressed" or not.

There are so many Toyotas in this area, I would barely be able to keep up waving at all of them...
The few modded 3rd gens in town seem a bit stuck up, so 'eff them ;)

The SO and I have a silly T4R game of calling out "FOUR!" (like golf) every time we see one.
But if you see more than one at a time, you add them together shouting the increments "4!, 8!, 12! etc."
I can get to 16 pretty regularly - this place is so saturated with 4Runners (in a good way!)

I wave to the even slightly modded or older gens, hardly ever get a wave back. Prolly they see me and think 'soccer mom.'

My kid hates soccer, btw. So wave, darnit.

I give them the "nod" or a quick peace wave.

Yep same here! It's a nod or "knowing look" I give them. If I get a blank, glassy-eyed stare back — then I know they're just normal people who have no idea what they are driving. They probably think I'm some Creeper...

If I get the "look" back, then all is right in the world and somewhere — an angel gets it wings.

Yup

There seems to be more lifted 3rd gens around me. I generally will look to see if they are looking my way and they aren't. Once, a while back a guy with a lifted 3rd gen pulled up next to me and we rolled down windows and talked for a second. I asked him if he was on the forum and he said no. In general, peeps here in SoCal are pretty kept to themselves... or into themselves... I'm not sure which.

So many people just buy a 4rubber because it's a good suv. And so many of them see a lifted one and like it and decide to lift there's too. But they don't care much otherwise. It's just a good suv with a little more clearance but that's as far as there interest goes.

I see a ton of 3rd-5th gens (mainly stock) on a daily. I don't wave to anyone anymore. I found the 1st Gen tacoma crowd waves and is more interested than anyone else. I've had a few red light conversations with some tacomas. Not sure what it is about austin but it's full of 3rd gen 4runners and 1st gen xterras

The most attention I get is having my dogs heads hanging out of my back window

Op, I too always gotignored.

But just during this 40cm blizzard we got last night, seen one guy with my exact colour combo and he waved back like he just saw his long lost brother. Caught up with him down the road and he asked me a bunch of q's, his truck had 500000km+ on his. I was impressed.

....only the jade runners ever wave back.

Agreed. Whenever someone doesn't wave back I think to myself, there goes another dude that doesn't have a clue.

It's always a hit and miss. I own a Subaru Forester and a taco. I get waves in both. When in the taco I get also get waves in other 4x4's like heeps and nissans.

I live in mall cruiser land, I could go months without seeing a properly modded Toyota if I don't see my outdoor buddies.

In Seattle 3rd Gens are treated like homeless bums begging for money.

If you don't have the latest model you are scum.

If I wave I get a nose turned up at me. No appreciation for a modded classic, people here only respond to brand new.

its the same thing here in NJ. Most people i see driving 4runners around here are old people and their trucks are stock and beat to hell. I have pretty much stopped trying to wave to people lol i did get a thumbs up from a guy in a 4th gen a few weeks ago tho
