Why does the brake light point down?

I wouldn't say that, from behind, if someone is following you, it's brighter than stock. I also had a guy who's garage came down on his stock Toyota Hump spoiler, and I sold him this to replace it and he likes this setup better. It's a killer deal right now, when the dealer is charging an insane $800!

Great work bud... I'm curious though... Does the oem spoiler actually improve performance or just purely esthetics?

On the sport model I assume the hood scoop. Negatively affects drag in a wind tunnel. Bigger sport tubes over the skinnier roof racks found on the sr5 would negatively affect drag.. I'm just curious what effect the spoiler has on these vehicles.

But the hood scoop along with the spoiler is purely for looks and looks only.

oh and the spoiler helps keep the back window less dirty vs non spoiler version.

my backup '04 has a non spoiler and it gets dirty quick vs my current '07 sport with the spoiler. love the look of OEM spoiler though - the led lights look sexy on it

Yea, the rear spoiler will keep the window much cleaner and will help on highway speeds to some degree with keeps more downforce on the rear for better handling, but would you notice this better handling? Probably not, unless you're on a track going 90+ mph

Now, Toyota did add the Hump on later year 4runners and I'm sure their engineers had a reason for that Hump. Would love to know exactly but I bet it's functional in some way.

I dunno... I kinda still like the way it looks without the rear wing...

As far as the advantages go... I don't think I would benefit. Plus we have rear wipers, its all you need to keep it clean.

If I knew how to wire or splice wires, I'd order one for my backup '04 4Runner since it doesn't have 1

This is a simple tap into the existing 3rd brake wire, or grab it right from the harness that's visible when the hatch is open. Directions tell which wire. This is actually the easiest part.

Oh, I actually didn't know that. Thought it mainly helped grime from building up on rear window, and more down force at the track over 90+ mph actually true, but no one will be going that fast.
