4Runner LTD Family

No way would I say the limited is just as good. Audi has the AWD perfected but I think it'll be the best option for what you want. I drove a limited for a week and liked it. The traction will be the best that Toyota can offer and will be close to the Quattro. I loved and hated the Q7 but it was gorgeous and fun to drive. I think you need a limited.

I'm not a hard core Audi person, but from my past reading, the Audi Quattro with permanent all-wheel drive is a Torsen center differential, SAME as what is used in the Limited. (but without the option to lock, and without a low range option) I would consider the Limited 4Runner even more capable.

Unless something has changed over the years, I would expect them to work the same on road.

The Haldex system also exist in their lineup, but isn't as highly regarded, I think it more of a front wheel drive setup until it needs to send power to the rear.

Off road absolutely but on road no way. The audi is set up for performance the limited is not. The audi use massive wide tires and power delivery is very smooth. We really should not even been conspiring then. It's a truck compared to a performance crossover. It's terrible off road but an animal on road. Just traction wise maybe close everything else no way.

I'm not referring to the power and performance from a speed standpoint, I was only referring to how the system mechanically functions and works.

If you were to lower the 4Runner and throw a motor with more power into it and wider tires, I suspect it would be one in the same.

Both having a mechanical limited slip center Torsen TC.

But I get what ur saying, out of the box, and configured as-is, the driving experience is very different and both excel in different areas.

Audi is nice, only if you buy new and you don't keep it more then 5-6 years. Haven't had them that long to tell you how good they are. Though I have buddies with Diesel ones that run 200k. So you never know.

I will tell you my BMW has been far the worst.

Couldn't even drive the new GLE it was horrendous like being on a boat.

Heavily leaning toward the LTD, either Im going to have to accept the fact that the ceilings are low and its a great car otherwise... The power system is weak but is what it is, its a truck. My background isn't really fair since I've driven from a Cayenne to high performance other M sport CUV to SQ5. So 0-60 in under 4 vs 0-60 in about 8.

I really dislike BMW SUV wish a passion.

What does float my boat is the Porsche Macan, I REALLY like that thing.

If I was looking for fast, street-centric SUV to daily drive and take to the mountains, the GTS or Turbo would be it. After checking it out in person I was very impressed.

Its' a lot of coin to throw on a SUV, and for that much I would have a hard time not considering a Land Cruiser considering I actually do use the off-road capability when going on leisure trips.

Something that fast and fun to drive is only going to get my into trouble. It's a hard harder to get a speeding ticket in a 4Runner haha.

Limited is a good choice

Went from an X5 diesel with the sport package to a limited 4runner. Lifted it on king shocks, new tires and wheels. Stock the limited 4runner is alright. The tires suck and the tire size isn't popular so the replacement choices suck. The suspension is too soft making the nose dive pretty absurd. 600 LB springs on coil overs fixed the noise dive. stiffer rear springs and shocks make the ride stiffer which helps everything. if you dont want a fast car get a limited. It is the best all weather car I have ever had and I cruise up to the mountains from Denver in inclement weather a lot. Also, worth throwing it out since you are mentioning some pretty expensive cars......Land Cruiser.

King shocks appear to be the most popular in the desert go-fast crowd. ICON stuff looks great too but I dont know if a digressive damper is right for me anymore.

I love my 6112 shocks, but when you really push them they seem to blow though the stroke too fast. I really need an internal bump zone towards the end of compression. Even with bump stops the sensation of bottoming out isn't fun,

I either need a progressive shock, or just some adjustment capability.

Everything from fire roads to rock crawling to the desert. Have had great results so far and like the ride on the road better as is than original.

Might want to check out Accutune Off Road. They can custom valve and tune Fox or King shocks to meet your needs. They are building me some custom 2.5" Fox Double Adjustables with upgraded springs. They do some pretty cool stuff and top notch customer service.

Drove a Macan, Picked the X3m40i over it. Unless you get a fully loaded turbo and even then the price gap was low 60's very high 90's.

That's the only concept that excites me. If something like this actually happens, and can last reasonably well, it would make the Land Cruiser look like a steam engine.
