4Runner maintenance?

Hey yall I will be picking up my 4Runner this week :D and wanted to ask about maintenance stuff on the drivetrain that I can do, what to look for to avoid potential costly issue's and just general advice.
I am by no mean's a Toyota maintenance newbie as I have driven only Toyota's for 23yr's and worked in the service dept for 2 local Toyota dealer's BUT this is my first 4x4 vehicle. My friend's at the dealer I had recently worked for are going to do a free inspection for me before the sale is finalized to insure the 4Runner is in proper condition.

Anyway I just wanted to get some input on the maintenance, not oil and filter changes, that I can do myself.

Thank's to anyone and everyone for any "insider info" they are willing to share,

Gregg

PS,
Here are pick's of the 4Runner I'm getting it's an '01 SR5 4x4 fully loaded w/97K, driveout is $12.5K!!!!!

Yes the hood is open because I took this pick right after my 4x4 Tacoma buddy checked the engine bay and right before I did.

I own a 4th gen, so bear with me. I would bet you could lube the driveline and swap differential fluids easily on your own (front, rear, transfer case). That would be the only major difference between a 4x4 and regular car that I can think of. Get yourself a grease gun and gear oil pump.

Thank you bud I appreciate your advice and I will buy a grease gun and gear oil pump asap.

Thanks again,
Gregg
