4Runner Miscarriage

Yesterday I was suppose to go pick up my gray V6 Sport 4x4. Well, it didn't happen. Apparently the truck was damaged beyond repair at the port. The truck was prepaid, all the paperwork had been done, and I had the VIN number. Needless to say, I wasn't too happy about that..... especially given the fact that the dealer didn't even call when they found out a few days prior.

The sports are very hard to come by in this region, let alone a V6 4x4.... and in gray. They have a white and a black truck on the lot, and they say they have access to a gray with a moonroof. I'm 6'3", so the moonroof will not work. I test drove a limited with a moonroof, and my head was touching the roof when the seat was all the way down. Also, it seems like the moonroof would just be a source of rattles and possible leaks.

The dealer does not have any gray v6 4x4 sports in transit, but they say they are going through mulitple channels to try and track one down. I'm guessing it will be 4 weeks minimum until they can track down the exact truck I want....... though likely longer.

The white sport didn't look too bad. I was initially turned off by the white, but it seems to work on the 4Runner with all the dark accents and the dark windows.

If I pick the white I could drive it off the lot today...... Man, that's a tough decision.

Wait for it!!!

You're not going to be 100% with your purchase unless you get exactly what you want. Yes, white is a beautiful color, it was actually my first choice, but i got grey! I don't think one more month will kill you.

Wait

Wait for the grey and make them pay! They should give you a loaner for free (even if you don't need it) if you had a firm delivery date.
I ordered and waited for what I wanted (it was in transit and they redirected). Don't regret it.

I say that pretty much all of the colors look great. I special ordered a Pac Blue Limited bc I loved that color at the time. Don't get me wrong, I still do, but the white has grown on me, as has the gold.

Whatever you decide, you'll be happy bc this is such a great truck.

Let us know.

Definitely wait for it. I wanted the Silver one at first. When they couldn't find it, they offered me the Galactic Gray. I didn't really want it at first but I caved in anyway. I can tell you that was the best decision I could have made!!!!! Good Luck!!!

I would say wait for the gray, since it was what you wanted. The all white looks great, but if it isn't what you ordered, don't cave in. Now, if they were to come off the price a good but, then it would be something to think about.

My buddy has a WHITE 04 v8 Sport awd and it looks pretty clean, put the revtek 3" on it and revos... good to go.

I originally wanted a Pacific Blue SR5 V8 4X4 but the dealer could not locate it. They had three silver V8 Sport Edition 4X4's on the lot so they offered that to me at the same price as the SR5. I originally did not want silver because everyone drives a silver 4Runner. After having it for 9 months, I am thrilled I went with the silver and I think it looks better and better each day. I am not sorry at all. I think you should wait for what you want. I did not special order mine. You should get what you originally ordered or get some money off.

After exhausting their search in the region (this past Saturday), the dealer said they would begin the nation-wide search. The search would begin Monday, and the existence of the gray 4runner with the option set I wanted was still uncertain.

I started paying close attention to other 4runners on the road. It's amazing how many gray and white 4th gen 4runners you notice in this situation. The more I looked at these vehicles, the more I began liking white. The white 4Runners looked more sleek and sporty than the gray 4 runners. The windows, dark accents, and the headlights really stood out against the white.

The decision soon became easy. I went with the white 4Runner, and I sure do love this rig. I see lots of gray 4runners around here, but it's not often that I see a white sport.

Congrats! As you might recall I was in a similar situation and purchased a silver v8 4x4 sport a little over a week ago. I originally was thinking white, black, or gray instead. I'm very happy with the silver and I think any color looks great on the 4Runner....well, except Gold, but that's just my personal opinion. Anyway, in this region for the truck you are looking for I think you made the right decision. Do you mind if I ask what sort of deal your got from Kearny Mesa?

White Vs Silver

My first choice was a white, but having no private parking where i live, it would be pretty hard to keep it white all the time. I have found that the silver doesnt attract much dirt, or if it does..it doesnt show..:D..thus making life a lil more simple

The deal on the original gray truck was about 500 over invoice. There was a $1000 rebate, and another $1000 off for being a costco member. However, the first truck was smashed, and the rebate expired before we heard the bad news. They gave us the white truck for the original price, so either they ate the $1000 loss from the lack of the rebate, or they still managed to get that from Toyota due to the situation.
