Recently we purchased 1996 Toyota 4Runner 4x4 SR5 3.4 Liter, took it to the shop to get it checked out and we found out that there are some hoses missing and they weren't sure where the hoses attach or belong to. They also didn't know if the hoses could have been routed wrong? :bash: . I would like to share the diagram w/you guys, may be someone out there have the same exact SUV or very experienced mechanic who can give us some advice. Thanks for your time.

The hoses at the firewall are your rear heater hoses, I believe. Get under the truck and see if those two hard lines go up through the floor of the 4Runner somewhere around the center of the vehicle. Your rear heater was likely bypassed due to either rusted out hard lines or a leaky heater core. Check it out... turn on your rear heater to full hot... I bet you get cold air coming out. It is OK the way they have it set up, but if you want rear heat, figure out why they bypassed the heater core (check it for leaks) and replace it if necessary, then re-connect your lines the way they should go.

Those two caps on the two vacuum ports are normal. Leave them as is.

Awsome

Finally I got response, I appreciate your reply.... Well buddy you got that right, rear heat doesn't work. You know what you are talking about, my worries are over I thought those hoses had something to do with engine intake and I might end up screwing up the engine.

I guess I will leave them bypassed "as is", I have no clue how much it would cost me "worst case scenario if they are damaged or rusty". Let the kids deal with Cold air in the back ;)...
