4Runner on order

Just had two days of negotiating with dealers. No one could find an exact match of what I wanted. I found Wesley Chapel Toyota, who was willing to order my 4Runner. I wanted a '07 SE 4x4 V6 with side air bags and a moonroof and a few dealers said that was not a possible combo in the Southeast. I would have to choose one or the other. Wesley Chapel said no problem, but they are a new dealership. I hope they can pull it off. Especially, after some of the special order horror stories I have read on this forum and Tundra's forum. They said they put the order in yesturday. I will keep close tabs and hope I am lucky and the order goes through without a hitch.:D

Thanks:) It is going to be a looong 90 to 120 days! I feel it will be worth it to have all the options I want.

congrats, when i ordered my 4runner, i wanted a limited 4wd. they told me it would be a 90-120 day wait and i needed a truck, so i picked up a fully loaded sr5 4wd. only missing the power seats, digital ac, and the door plastics... glad you got exactly what you wanted, and that you can wait for that amount of time!!

It'll be a long wait, but IMO it's worth it to get exactly what you want. Congrats!

The 4Runner is worth the wait. I've been doing the waiting game since 9/9/06 for an IS350. I had to special order it for a radio.

I think it was your horror story I read. There was more on the Tundra site, but I may have help with Southeast Toyota IF I have an issue which I hope I don't. see FissionMan post at:

Not sure if you live in the Southeast, but I guess a Southeast Toyota customer loyality representative can help with "special orders". I wish he would have posted the phone number.

I was pretty serious about getting an FJCruiser a few months ago but also had extreme difficulty getting the spec level I wanted. Base model, auto, conv pkg, rear locker. Again most dealers said they couldnt do it but others said no problem, just wait about 3 months. I could have walked out the door with one full of crap that I simply didnt want but that would have cost me $2-5k more than I wanted to spend.
I gave up and got a used '00 4runner instead, and spent $15k less!! (so can now spend $15k on accessories!!)
Despite Toyota's success in this country, I would like to see Japan give the U.S. a bit more freedom in how they work.

I was thinking of the FJ too. I love the looks of it on the outside, but I didn't care for the interior. I liked that it had no carpet like my F-150, but I didn't care for the "modern" look. That is when I starting looking at the 4Runner and just seem to fit me perfect. I am getting really excited, I can't wait till my 4Runner to be here. I always hang on to my vehicles that is why I like to get exactly what I want, my F-150 is fourteen years old and has 338,000 miles on her and she is still going strong.

daing, that's a pretty long time. I thought when I was playing the waiting game on my GX, I thought that would be the worst experience. When I bought my GX, it was during the time when, I'd say, you'd almost get shot for getting one (like the PS3s). lol. Not literally getting shot, but not a single GX sat at a dealership for 24 hours. Once they came in, they went out. One customer did a buy back (health reasons) and that used one sold ASAP. I only had to wait 1 month and 3 days. Ordered a GX on Dec 14 and one (well it wasnt the interior color i wanted though) came in on jan 17.

But then I was in a real hurry. I was trading in my RX300 and had to do it before the RX330 came out to trade it in for a higher value. So i had a reason not to wait for the perfect vehicle. :( But I'm actually glad I got a Charcoal Interior on my GX instead of Ivory, easier maintenance. :D
