4runner owners - who are you?

I'm a United States Marine, and I have been in for 10 years. I'm 30 years old and currently on a deployment with the 11th MEU. My job in the USMC is to fix and fly on helicopters. I commute 72 miles a day round trip in my v8, but it is well worth it.

What squadron are you with?

Once upon a time I was Avionics with HMH-361, got out in 03... sounds like we might know some of the same people.


Ok... now to me... Not my daily driver, I use my Harley for that, I'm a software engineer which is a fancy title for SQL nerd.

I beat up my 4Runner as much as I can out in the desert, hasn't failed me yet!

Early 30s, BSEE, MSEE with a focus on wireless and media compression. The 4Runner is my 2nd 4Runner, first one was an 88 which I sold many years ago. It is also my 30th car or so, I've owned and sold everything from my 76 K5 Blazer on 32s to my 2008 3 series.

I love modding cars, motorcycles, and boats. Before my professional career in telecommunications, I used to work as a technician at a tire chain and later a local race shop. Currently, I'm a Director of Engineering at a Major Telco.

I'm 18 next month. High school student in North East Mass. Going for a PhD in psychology in the next 8 years.

I own a record label and was able to buy my 2005 Sport V6 with 20k miles for my first car, cash (with under-the-table, tax-free money) . It's my daily driver, and I'd LOVE to wheel it, but the Boston area has absolutely no off roadable terrain.

I used to shoot competitively, was in young marines, in the process of joining the USMC when I broke my back snowboarding.

I have lots of mods on my truck, and many more to come!

33 Y.O., Civil Engineering Tech., ended up specializing in design/drafting and am drafting manager at my local engineering office.

My hobbies are camping and backcountry wheeling, and I'm a catch and release fisherman that enjoys the chase and adventure of getting there almost more than the actual fishing.

About to have my 10 year anniversary to my wife, have 6 and 8 year old daughters, all of whom are just awesome to be part of my life.

Got my first 4R, a 96 in 03, brought my first daughter home in it, sadly sold it in 2010. Got our 04 in 08 and still love climbing into it every day.

I'm a hobby car flipper, I've had 20+ vehicles in my driving career, I think the average was about 10 months each, only one of which was wrote off. Didn't really plan on it, just kind of evolved that way as basically allowed me to own both my vehicles payment free, I buy low and sell high. I'm not a scammer or anything, I just know good deals when I see it. Buy em, clean em up, and sell em. The 4Runner is never part of the buy/sell process, and now that I got my Taco as well I've lost interest in carrying on.

Truck: 2003 Toyota 4Runner SR5 V8 2WD in Natural White with cladding, hopefully getting some Sport Edition Rims for it soon. His name is Sam 2. I'll explain that later in my quick life story haha.

It's my third vehicle. First was a 1998 T4R V6 2WD. Totaled in a accident at 65 MPH. I walked away without a scratch. Wasn't my fault, it was in the family for 8 years. I miss that truck. It had 136k. Second was a 2003 Toyota Highlander Base 2.4L 4 cylinder FWD. traded at CarMax for my current t4r. Had 114k. Then now my 03 SR5 V8. Like I said his name is Sam 2, the 98's was San do I guessed Sam 2 would go along haha.

Certifiable car nut, wheels on the brain since I started walking. Constantly planning the next purchase and typically get bored with each bike or car after about 6months. The 4Runner, however, going on 7 years...I'd say it fits my needs to a 'T' (get it?).

I'm a 53 year old Broadcast Engineer (electronics) with 33 years experience in the television industry. Spent 11 years of that in the Hollywood and Burbank studios. Currently working in Earth station enviroment. My '08 4Runner is my first Toyota and must say this is the most reliable vehicle I've ever owned. Not my most favorite, but I'v had many vehicles over the years. Mostly an everyday commuter, tow fishing boat into mountains and then some skiing.

Im 30 going on 31 in a little over a month.

As fpr my cars i've only had two. I had a 1998 explorer which I thought was a great suv regardless of the tires exploding on TV and the rollovers. I don't know why but mine did fine. After I retired that I hung onto it for a little while after I got the 4Runner i guess because of sentimental value but the additional negative car insurance value didn't seem worth it. I did manage to sell it myself to a guy who is taking care of it. I see him driving every now and then still kind of miss it.

I started off with a 4 year degree in Sociology with a Criminal Justice Emphasis then moved onto a 2 Year degree in Industrial Technology for Machine Tool. My plan was to work for US Customs or Border Patrol but then it occurred to me after talking to some of the people there I would be stuck in an airport and not chasing people like i had hoped. I met some of the US Customs guys at an airshow and saw their blackhawk and go fast boat and still think its cool. My wife wasn't wild about me doing that either. Now I moved back to my hometown and started a Metrology business. So if any of you or your companies need electrical or pressure calibrations let me know and ill see what I can do. In addition to the calibrations I also do thermal imaging.

My hobbies used to be indoor rock climbing and various other outdoor activities like hiking but now that stuff isn't around. I'm back on my other hobby of guns and reloading. I love an accurate rifle. Other than that i like working on various projects and tend to be a all around do it yourself-er. I tend to be a tinkerer and am always trying to "improve" things. Most of the time it works out.
