4runner owners - who are you?

40 year old United States Marine. I've been in for almost 15 years now and use my 4Runner as a daily driver. I'm stationed in Camp Lejeune, NC, but wife and kids are in the Northern Virginia area. I use my T4R to make the trip every weekend from NC to VA and the occasional off-road beach excursion.

- Pilot at a bankrupt airline, 767 int'l out of O'Hare, on call most of the time. Learned to fly at USAF, might go back.
- Project manager, building custom automated production machinery. ME from Michigan State.
- Love to run, manage to lift somewhat regularly, mountain biking is my guilty pleasure.
- Kids range from 10 to 25, keep me busy.
- I like to do all my own maintenance, not much I won't tackle.
- The 4R is my DD, highway commuter, parking lot queen when I'm on trips, sometimes my crashpad.

34 yrs old, married 13 years, 3 kids. Was in the Army through Basic, AIT and into Airborne School when a couple discs in my back ruptured, discharged from army in 1995. Just had another surgery last November to try to repair those same discs and cut some vertebrate out so the nerves can function. Been in IT trenches, architecture and management since 96. Recently switched to an IT sales role and enjoying it. Enjoy hunting, fishing and camping with my family.

Have had a 71 charger I rebuilt with my father. Surprised I didn't wreck it, (it moved rather abruptly). 80's Olds cutlass, Chrysler Cirrus (hated), Honda accord (first foray into Japanese autos), Toyota Tundra (loved it, wish I still had it), Honda pilot, BMW 328xi, Ford Fusion Sport and just picked up what I always wanted. A 4runner, 2007 SR5 to be exact. We now have only Toyotas in the garage (sienna for the wife).

What airline? My Dad is a retired United Airlines captain off the triple 7 out of o'hare. He was there when they filed bankruptcy. At one time I was heading for that career. No offense, but I'm glad I didn't. It's not what it used to be.

As for me. I work for a major power utility in fossil operations. It's a new career for me, spent the previous 10 years self employed. The 2008 crash put an end to that. 37 years old, married with two great little boys. Live on the water and spend a lot of time boating in the summer. Love golf and mountain biking too. I'm a third gen owner so I hope I'm allowed to post here.:biggrin2: Currently have my 3rd gen for sale to move up to a 4th gen.

No offense, but I'm glad I didn't. It's not what it used to be.

None taken. I'm blessed to have a job, one of the best jobs in aviation at AA, but my family and I would be much better off if I'd stayed an engineer.

My father was an AA pilot, it was a good job back then. Brother and I are 767/int'l/ORD.

It's a blast. I love it. Im at the University of North Texas. They have had a logistics and supply chain program for a whole but the Aviation Logistics is brand new.

Go Air Force Reserve or Air National Guard. It has always been a better deal but now more than half the pilots going into active duty are ending up in UAVs. That might go down as they're discovering UAVs are more expensive than they thought, we'll see. A Guard unit near me (Battle Creek) is scheduled to switch to UAVs. They are hiring off the street at Selfridge to fly tankers, might take you without a private or degree, but better to get them first. Awesome advice thank you! I am actually aiming for a kc-10 pilot slot with the 79th out of Travis. They are a reserve unit. I'd love to fly tankers or airlift.

You can enlist there and start getting help with school, that will push you to the front of any list they might have for UPT slots. They can then take you up on flights too, plenty of benefits.

I usually picture my cousin when I think 4Runner guys not myself haha

But I'm 22 finishing my BS in Engineering Management focusing in Mech E and Aero. I am a certified snowboard instructor, love to scuba dive, go out wheeling (2000 T4r Limited), camping, hiking, kayaking, road trips, honestly most anything!

I listen to all types of music and hang with all types of people.

Oh and I'm looking for a job in the industry once I graduate!
