So I have a 2002 SR5, 3.4 v6. I currently need to do a valve cover replacement along with new spark plugs as well. The middle of last week my check engine light came on and it was a P0171 system too lean bank 1 message. I know that can be an air flow sensor or some sort of hose issue. Today while running some errands, I notice my runner start to lurch as I was accelerating towards 40mph. The RPM's were jumping between 1 1/2 and 2. It went on for a a little while, my truck jumping ahead with higher revs then coming right back down. Eventually It seemed to stop and wasn't a problem at 30 mph. I've searched for this issue but haven't been able to find the answer that explains it. Anyone have any suggestions. Could it be one of the problems I already have right now. I was pretty broke the last 6 months and not able to replace the valve cover or spark plugs (its been about 3 months since that became a problem). I can now pay for repairs if it is too big a job for me.
So I switched out the fuel filter and cleaned the MAF and used seafoam in my tank, but Im still having the problem. Now I here a flapping noise under the hood when it starts to rev and lurch. It feels like it is getting choaked with either not enough air or fuel, any suggestions? I'm thinking I have a hoes that is loose or punctured but I honestly don't know what I'm looking for.
Thanks Everyone!
