I am very sorry to that, Koz. Hope you recover quickly! Your camera phone takes great pics. I am surprised. What is that funny black box above the exhaust tip? Is that just a plastic cushion? Does this mean no BBQ at the end of the summer? Just kiddin. Get well soon.

Sorry to see that Red Salsa Limited banged up, but at least you weren't seriously hurt... Hope she's back up and running again soon!!

Koz ... that is exactly what happened to me a fex weeks ago. I was at a dead stop and someone hit me from behind without even trying to stop (30 - 40 mph). My accident scene looked just like yours. The bumper and hitch on my Runner was damaged .... but the car that hit me was absolutely totalled. I too was pushed into the car in front of me ... but it only made a little dent in my front bumper. I am glad I was the one driving the tank ....

The bumpers are rated at like 5MPH so its no suprise to see what happened but looks like your hitch bumper took some of the damage. Looks like your hitch may need to be replaced. Another member mentioned that the hitches were on back order so you may run into that problem.
Do you have anymore pics of the front? From the pics it doesn't really show much, but you said the grill will need to be replaced.

Glad to hear you are o.k., except now for the daunting job of getting the Runner back to original shape. Do you think the hitch step helped some in deflecting the damage? Her car was messed up! I love to see that.
I had something similar happen about 6 years ago....two days after installing a push bar on my Tacoma. Except in my case the person tried to make a fast California turn in front of me in 2" of fresh snow and ended up traveling straight into my lane. I knocked his engine clean out of his car and my taco barely looked like it took a hit, except for the push bar getting pressed back into the hood a little. I didnt' want to deal with fixing it (I had it for a month) and the dealer I purchased it from was great. So we ended up dealing that day with a damaged Tacoma on trade (with insurance going to fix it), and I got my first 4Runner that evening.

Sorry to hear about your accident Koz, glad that you didn't suffer major damage yourself. How did the driver of the car that hit you fare? It looks like her car folded like it's supposed to, absorbing all that energy. Sounds like maybe she was on a cell phone or something else that kept her occupied.

I have a few questions:
1) Were you wearing the seatbelt? If you were, was it snuggly tight?
2) Were you using the lumbar support?
3) How high was your headrest?
4) Was the headrest bottom tilted to the front?
5) Did the Go Rhino

My condolences on the damage to your vehicle.
Hopefully you didn't suffer any real damage in the incident (I don't call these accidents where $%@! people are involved).
All of these incidents makes me worry about my less than 2 week old 4Runner that is being detailed right now.
I hope our vehicles aren't collision magnets.
