I know we all obviously pay closest attention to 4Runners, and many people post about their wait/ availabilty of the TRD Pro's. Has anyone looked around for Tundras or Tacomas? Tacomas are practically extinct in the southeast, and Tundra's are fairly rare too. I know Tundras sell better in the Gulf States region though. After some prying, it actually appears that 4Runners are the most available! As for production numbers, I think the most consistent figure I've seen is 2500 globally per model, and 1400 to the states for the 4Runner. The Tundra and Taco are built in the Americas, so exporting/ demand may change those numbers.

Do you have any more photos of the headlights and tail lights? Did you do that also or just the windows?

Apparently Mexico, Chile, Argentina will get some of these TRD pros according to my cousin who just did a job for toyota and the TRD pros for those countries which also be used for US advertising.
supposedly US gets 1500 of each model, 500 of each color.

maybe the tacoma (highly doubt it, likely the Hilux) and tundras sell there? those are also part of the TRD family.
the clients for mexico argentina and chile were there which means they're were all looking after how it was presented for their respective markets. unless the Mexico and Argentina guys just wanted to hang with Andy Bell.

2015 TRD PRO white- new member needing some help

Good Morning,

I purchased my TRD PRO in February, built 12/14. After a month, there have been a couple items that required the dealerships help. One item, the two front tires were egg shaped and replaced under warranty.

The second item I need assistance from this group with is a noise that starts when the car is put into D or R. Once in gear, an audible noise sounding like a ring of some sort is spinning around. The master tech didn't hear it the first time around, but after we replaced the tires I pointed out the noise in a quiet area and he agreed it didn't seem normal and was only heard when D or R was engaged. They had a TRD PRO on site and a couple trail editions that have the same drivetrain and differential set-up. The TRD PRO on the lot had the same noise and the two TEs had the same noise too, but not as loud. The service adviser said the tech line may say it's normal if all four made the same noise. Master tech said he would let toyota know.

Have any of you heard a noise that sounds out of the normal coming from what appears to be the drivetrain when in D or R? I think what you may be referring to is part of the anti-lock system calibrating itself?

I have had it from day one and always when going from Reverse back to Drive. In mine it sounds like about a 1 second light pulse of the anti-lock brake system (not as pronounced as when anti-lock or traction control is really going into action while driving). If you hit the gas fast enough when switching to D you will even get the traction control "beeping" or limited slip "beeping" and dash light to come on.

Again, I think it's normal with the system check of the electronic braking control, limited-slip, traction control system which all uses the pulsing brakes to the desired wheel to gain traction or prevent slipping to the wheel etc.

Thanks King noob. Doing things little by little. The rails were removed and then painted instead of dipped. The rear letters are factory black(ordered them from toyota) and the rear emblem is also painted. Hoping that painting them will last longer than dipping. Time will tell.
What size spacers did you get? Still loving my little mini front lift. No problems or change in ride IMHO.

i believe i have the same spacer kit as you - originally posted by vlad - the toytec spacers that go above the coilovers...i think they are a 1/4 inch. i ordered them this weekend, they have yet to arrive.

i'm going to plasti-dip the rear emblem badging in gun metal gray (to match the "toyota" color on the front), and the roof rack bars in black.

i've been using my 4runner for skiing all winter and am looking forward to some more serious wheeling this upcoming summer!

The noise from the drivetrain continues the entire time the T4R is running from on to off. When going into D, you can hear it until about 20mph then it gets drowned out by road noise.

If you're driving in a parking garage it is audible to those near the car. It doesn't only make noise for 10-20secs at start up.

I would have thought if 4 T4Rs, 2 pros and 2 trails on the lot make the noise it's likely happening to others too.

I hope this helps as the noise isn't only when shifted D or R and stops, but continues until you shift to N or P or off.

i'm in south denver (DTC area) and have a super white TRDP. i have not experienced the "clunk" either. i have noticed a shudder under the following circumstances (albeit inconsistently):

when the truck is cold
when i am braking/turning simultaneously at the end of a reverse

i've researched it a bit on here, and i believe it's the disc pads...i can feel the shudder up through the steering wheel. for now i'm just going to leave it as is.

on my list -

toytec front spacer kit (originally posted by vlad in this thread). it will bring the front end up by about 1/2" (and bring it a smidge less than level) and does not compress the front coilover. currently being shipped.

as soon as the weather warms up consistently (and i have the time), i'm going to plasti-dip the rear emblems in gun metal gray to match the "toyota" in the front, and the roof rack bars in black.

rocky road super sliders - prefer them over other sliders as they come up almost flush with the rocker panels.

Went ahead and placed my order today! Was told maybe they will build me a white one and maybe I'll see it between May and August... I was fine with that. Then after leaving, I was passed on the highway by a white one and was like "Darn it!!!".

At the end of the day, I really really hope they will build me a white one!

Just got a text from Jim Norton Toyota today. They said my order was accepted and I will have my Super White TRD Pro the first or second week of June. I'm sure I could find one already built somewhere between now and then but frankly my tax bill this year was painful so a couple of months is actually a good thing. Plus it's kind of cool knowing mine is being built in Japan with my name on it all the way through. I plan on driving it up to the 75th Sturgis Rally in South Dakota in August! I can't wait!

Just curious about the 1.25 wheel spacers? Apart from getting a bit wider stance, what are the benefits? Pros/Cons? I see a lot of people doing this but I also wonder if they change the loading on the wheel bearings any and may cause increased wear?

Over time the wheel bearings wear a lot more faster but not really to the point of noticing. It's all on how you want your T4R to stand... When it is due time for new tires, I will probably get wider tires and remove the spacers.

I would suggest no on the K&N drop in, and doing something like the AFe Dry filter. The oil on the K&N has always caused a problem on my vehicles. Just giving some advice. At the least, research the AFe vs. K&N..
