you do realize that all these cosmetic changes are the same ones the forum members have been doing that last year on the 2013 and on some of the 2014's. all i see is plasti dip black.

plasti dip with a warranty :lol: , probably be a $495 option for the factory plasti-dip. i guess thats why i got a silver to downplay the chrome and silver bling parts compared to other paint colors.
thats orange? looks more like a red from old days that has faded (radiant red)?
was really hoping for the 6th gen tacoma to come out and show off when its coming out. warden is getting antsy to upgrade her 2012, but we waited to see what the new 2015 look like first or wait for 2016.

The Tundra and Taco have TRD exhaust, the 4Runner does not.
Anyway, I have a question for the forum: Did anyone really care what modifications Toyota made to these vehicles besides the possibility of the supercharger for the 4Runner?
I certainly didn't. Everything that can be done to the 4Runner suspension-wise by Toyota can be done by me, if not better. And TRD isn't our only source for a potential supercharger. Gadget might still offer us some hope with the URD version.

You guys can trash it all you want. Can any of you do the TRD Pro mods better than OEM? No you can't. I don't mean to hurt anyone's feelings, but unless your last name is Shelby, Saleen or Lingenfelter, or you just happen to have a shop that has "AEV" Or "Icon" above the door, then all you are doing is bolting on parts and hope they work right with not too many squeaks and rattles. Yes, TRD sells bolt on parts too. The difference between you and the guys at TRD or any of the shops listed above is they actually design and build their components, not just bolt them on. They do little things like endurance testing, FEA modelling and oh, they offer a warranty too.
So please, before you pat yourselves on the back too much about being better than Toyota TRD remember what you do and what THEY do.

I would agree. To me it suggests that Toyota is actually listening, even to the .001%. The top complaints here about the stock 5th gen 4Runner is the soft front suspension and rake. Toyota just addressed it. TBD on the tires, but if they equip the TRD Pro with better tires that the Dunlops or Bridgestones, then that's 2 for 2. They even took the idea of the Satoshi grill and applied it to this model.
Toyota is also trying to position this new model as an alternative to possible customers lost with the death of the FJ.
The amount of hype revolving this event, that's another story. That's marketing for you....
Fall. It will be a '15 model. Hence my disappointment that the Tacoma will still be rocking the old 1GR for yet another year. It isn't a bad engine, but you aren't exactly getting a discount to buy old technology. The 5th gen 1GR is at least a thoroughly modern engine (roller rocker valve train w/ hydraulic lash adjusters, VVT on intake and exhaust cams, timing chain, etc).
I suppose this is going to be a normal factory option like the TRD offroad package, right? They didn't say anything like limited edition or only building 5000 like the T|X Baja package was and the Camry Hybrid SE they announced yesterday.

I agree with you about the extensive modeling and testing because I can say without a doubt that this TRD Pro "build-up" is going to perform as nicely and smoothly as stock. You KNOW for a fact that hundreds and hundreds of hours went into making sure that every single change and mod is in tune with one another and it will last as long as it's un-modded counterpart.
However, with respect to being "better", I think that this is largely in the eye of the beholder. Some guys on here have some pretty nasty Icon Stage infinity setups with like 2-3 shocks per corner that would likely kick ass in all aspects minus a few extra squeaks and shorter lifespan, lol.
But in the grand scheme of things, if I was looking to buy a lightly modded 4runner and I had absolutely no desire to do any mods myself, I'd get this in a heart beat. It's pretty hard to pass up factory reliability (and a nice warranty to boot), when you're not into turning wrenches.
All I've got to say is some of you guys are not giving the TRD guys enough credit here, they're a bunch of actual engineers (and gear heads) trying to do their best with the constraints they are given. Seems like a success to me :noidea:

I actually really dig the wheels, either Tundra or 4R versions. My concern about it will that they will cost $1200 - $1500 for the set like the current aftermarket TRD wheels, which for me is cost prohibitive. May just end up with SCS or something else.
If I was in the market for one, I'd buy a TRD Pro because until I joined this forum I never had any automotive knowledge outside tire pressure, checking oil levels (reallllllly basic stuff). I was actually looking at a Nissan XTerra Off Road edition (PRO-4X now) which is similarly set up with Bilstein's and such, but the amount of plastic in the interior was a real put off. So good on Toyota to take a little risk and venture out with a specialty off-road based SUV (remember the Highlander, RAV 4 or Sequoia have nothing like this, granted the first two are more crossovers but they seat at least 5 and have a decent trunk so I class them all the same as the 4R in that regard) gives something a little more exciting to their line up.
