4runner TRD Pro

Let me say that our current 4runners satisfy 95% of the population and 98% of them can't use it hard enough for what it's designed for. Now Toyota can satisfy 99% of the crowd. Regardless of what Toyota does, that last 1% will always say they can build better, so that market is pretty much unreachable.

This is right on. Never has an OEM vehicle Mfg made a vehicle that Johnny Jackstand couldn't improve upon with some bolt on parts of some kind or another. Even the Ford Raptor which is a pretty bad ass vehicle in stock form has a huge aftermarket geared to improve it even more.

Looking online it looks as if you can get it in 2wd or 4x4........ And there is no mention of a locker in any of the specs....

So, I don't think I've seen this anywhere else, but can somebody clarify whether this thing is based off the SR5 or the Trail?

This article suggests it'll be available in all trim levels: Toyota TRD Pro Series Introduced for Tundra, Tacoma, 4Runner But that doesn't seem right to me for various reasons.

Seems like basing it off the Trail and having it come stock with KDSS and a locker would make the most sense...

Wonder what kind of warranty that TRD Pro comes with? And, where do you install the [MENTION=65614]Antman[/MENTION] cupholders???? Those upgraded headlights look pretty, em... bright.

If I were to be in the market to buy a 4r and never knew about T4R.org or any other truck/offroad forum. I would jump on this just because its outfitted by TRD. TRD goes way back to when I use to be into celicas and corollas.

Seems like fluff to me...

The suspension is a minor upgrade, better wheels yet people are already *****ing about tires, no TRD exhaust on the 4Runner model... Seems like what everyone thought it was going to be.

I really thought the 5th gen supercharger was finally going to be announced as option. While they mentioned optional supercharger they likely we're referencing the Tundra/Taco SC that is already available.

After watching the live stream this morning and thinking about it most of the day overall I think this is a great product from Toyota. It's more than my TE comes with, which is already the most capable vehicle I've ever owned. For my purposes I don't think I'd even consider doing additional suspension mods.

That being said, it's not enough for me to trade in my '11 TE. If the SC comes to fruition though, it'd be almost impossible for me to turn down the manufacturer warrantied off road suspension AND SC from mile 0. Fingers crossed!

the one in the event today was a trail model. it had the overhead controls only available on the trail. i didn't hear them mention kdss though

It's plasti-dip. I did it last weekend then today I see the TRD pro copied me :eyebrows:

I'm not sure what I'll do with the wheels but I like them for now. I have a lot on my mod list before I revisit the wheels.

What do you guys think, wait for the TRD tuned bilsteins or go Icon?

Well for me, I like it. I have a 2010 Limited and was actually looking to trade it in for a 14 TE Premium in blue. They didn't have it stock and were looking for it then I heard news of this upcoming TRD Pro so I decided to hold off until it was revealed to decide. Today, I talked to my toyota contact and he sent me this email that he got from corporate.

He said the 2015 models should be out by late fall so I'm going to hold out for it. If I had already owned a TE, I'm sure I'd be on the same boat as most of you as far as not being impressed enough to trade yours in. But I'm looking forward to converting from the Limited model.

For what it is, IMO not bad, not great but not bad either.

Although I am truly surprised/disappointed it didn't have at the very least cat back exhaust!

I mean all this stuff is typically available for current models after release. If trends follow, that new suspension will cost more than other premium suspensions.
