4runner TRD Pro

What are chances it is available with third row? Are the current TEs available with 3rd row?
Thanks Brian

Not good since it is based on the Trail, which brings me to the answer to your second question.......no, Trails do not come with a 3rd row option.

Fixed.

Yep, the show model had KDSS

I've been obsessed with how my cv angles look post-lift, and after seeing this pic, it looks similar to mine. If TRD has done the extensive tests with this cv angle, then I am finally 100% at peace lol

I like what Toyota did here, more factory offroad options for those who are hesitant/too busy with other priorities to truly modify the 4R

You know, I'm just glad the 4Runner is finally getting some TRD lovin'... 4 years ago I would have totally bought one of these (I mod my bikes all the time, but had no intention of modding my TE when I drove it off the lot). Kudos Toyota for reaffirming that soccer moms are not the target demographic for the 4Runner...

On a totally different note, am I the only one that loves the Tundra and Taco versions of the "Toyota" grill but thinks the 4Runner version is cheaply done? Looks like they just slapped some glue on the logo and stuck it on the plastic. The version on the Tundra and Taco has the logo recessed into a new plastic trim piece (and the grill design with offset rectangles behind it is common between the two). If I only saw the 4Runner grill I'd like it, but when I see the other two I definitely like those designs way better... It is at least a step in the right direction I guess...

Nope, I agree but I also can't stand the new front, that helped a little, not enough though :-) great idea poor execution. That taco is shweet :)

So multiple sources say that there's about an 1" lift on the 4Runner, altho it seems more or less depending on what photos you look at, and the press car was dragging its ass with a bunch of journos in it.

How much "better" is the TRD suspension over the Trail suspension? Both are allegedly very capable off roaders. Or is it all just bling?

Wheels, tires, decals are purely cosmetic. I honestly have run steelies on every serious 4WD I own (because they're cheap and easy to fix) so I'm really unimpressed by any wheel choices.

Chernobyl Orange paint job is totally cool.

Writing TOYOTA across the front grille means little to new generations of buyers, and honestly it don't mean shit to me unless it's across the front of a live-axle Land Cruiser, but even my 80 series has the inverted Toyota dick logo on the front grille.

I have to say that the current 5th gen refresh TRD/TE looks less terrible with the blackout TRD Pro grille, it still looks bad compared to the more conservative TE prior to the refresh.

Honestly as time wears on, the design philosophy of off roaders seems to be more and more dictaed by crap like CAFE and collision standards and these things are becoming more and more plasticky and computerized. Fitting armor and lifts on trucks that tend to go spastic with tire size and axle pitch changes because they have dozens of computers on board is more and more alien and it's becoming obvious that if you plan to seriously use these things, you need to spend serious cash or just run an older less plasticky and computerized vehicle.

The TRD Pro is Toyota conceding that it doesn't plan on keeping its 4WD heritage alive in the US, and if you want a real off-roader, move your ass to Australia of Africa and buy an LC76 or just buy a Taco if you're not interested in learning another language.

Just be glad it DIDN'T turn into the P.O.S. Pathfinder or Durango Unibody Garbage. Kudos for NOT turning it into a grocery getter that can barely make it down a gravel road. I want to see it in Black. Inferno looks Nice. Nice Wheels but tires are TBD. No mention at all of Engines?

The most shocking thing about this news to me is that Toyota STILL isn't going to redesign the tacoma!! Give us a new damn truck already!

I've been wanting to get back in a pickup and was really hoping for a new tacoma for 2015. Not sure what I'm going to do now...

As I've said before, the Tacoma Baja suspension is of similar design and it feels great. Driving my SR5 (same springs and shocks as the TE) back to back with the Baja really highlighted that one suspension was built to be good enough for most people at cost while the other felt designed to be excellent. Have you ever ridden a $1500 full suspension mountain bike and then jumped on a $5k mountain bike? Everything is more taut and deliberate. The suspension is less harsh but provides better feedback and damping. That is about the best way I can describe it.

Why yes Quentin, yes I have! Then, then you get on an $8K mountain bike and you feel like you can drop in 80 ft at the next Red Bull challenge...until you remember that it's still YOU riding the bike and not some 20 year old that is wearing an iron man suit! That is actually a very good analogy.

I feel oddly left out that I'm still riding a singlespeed steel hardtail with a rigid carbon fork...

I still rock my old C'dale hardtail 29er on occasion, but seriously, that was the best way I could describe it. My dad, after driving to IL from WV in my uncle's '13 T|X Baja, wanted to immediately trade his '11 TRD OR on one. I don't know what they did with the shock valving, but they did a good job of making it a great all around suspension. After driving his Baja, I had almost talked myself into an Icon or similar. I've heard similar things about the Raptor feeling better on and off the road than the standard F150.

The Raptor and AEV Wranglers feel silky smooth (almost sexual) off road and on, without sacrificing capability or feel.

If Toyota has done that with the T|X Baja, that's really worth investigating.

...and it's a crime that more 4x4's don't come that way.

I like the vehicle. Can't wait to see in white. Yes should have come with a cat-back exhaust, 275 or 285 tires. The 265 don't fill the wheel arches with the lift. MOST of all. Wishing they would have stepped up to a Turbo-Diesel. Cummins TurboD would have been awesome. Better MPG and torque. Ok i've i'm dreaming of the cummins Engine why didn't they bring the Hilux Diesel from South America.

FYI Nissan seems to be stepping up to TD motors.

I absolutely love the look of the TRD Pro 4Runner. Now I just need to convince the wife that we need a new vehicle. :D

I ride a 29er hardtail singlespeed with a Fox front suspension. My favorite bike! I am getting a fat tire bike this spring though!

Steel is real....I rode a Niner sir 9 with a niner carbon front fork a bit, fun bike. Check out the new specialized fatboy coming out, very nice but it's been back ordered for a while now. Supposed to hit NY at the end of March.

BACK ON TOPIC....love the wheels on the 4runner and the taco wheels are ok. Paint color is pretty cool. I remember when I was buying my range rover sport a while back and they released the Vesuvius orange color, people were paying 60k over sticker to get it...crazy.

I have not had the same experience in a Raptor. My father-in-law has a '12 Raptor. It's pretty badass, but the ride is anything but silky on the road. It does better at high speeds, but road noise with the stock tires is an issue in my opinion.
