4runner TRD Pro

Steel is real....I rode a Niner sir 9 with a niner carbon front fork a bit, fun bike. Check out the new specialized fatboy coming out, very nice but it's been back ordered for a while now. Supposed to hit NY at the end of March.

BACK ON TOPIC....love the wheels on the 4runner and the taco wheels are ok. Paint color is pretty cool. I remember when I was buying my range rover sport a while back and they released the Vesuvius orange color, people were paying 60k over sticker to get it...crazy.

Those taco wheels are tough to photograph. In person, they look mean with that deep lip. I still dislike the faux beadlock, though.

I still rock my old C'dale hardtail 29er on occasion, but seriously, that was the best way I could describe it. My dad, after driving to IL from WV in my uncle's '13 T|X Baja, wanted to immediately trade his '11 TRD OR on one. I don't know what they did with the shock valving, but they did a good job of making it a great all around suspension. After driving his Baja, I had almost talked myself into an Icon or similar. I've heard similar things about the Raptor feeling better on and off the road than the standard F150.

No need to buy a whole new truck if you like the Baja, you can buy the entire Baja suspension from Toyota for $1,550.

I agree the Baja Taco is awesome, the ride is night and day difference between a stock OR Taco.

So, do you think the UCA is different with 1.5" lift...just wondering if there will be a factory uca available once these are released...although it will probably be more expensive then a aftermarket one.

I think all of the new models look good but I wish they had gone a step further to be a little more competitive in their segment (Raptor, Rubicon).

But it's nearly impossible to satisfy the hardcore minority of potential buyers and doesn't necessarily make the best business sense to do so anyway. Toyota is creating vehicles that will exceed the capability of what most people will do and more importantly reinforce an image or ideal that will sell more trucks. I'm glad at least there's a little meat rather than just some badging like we've seen on a lot of Jeep's recent offerings (& I like Jeeps).

Curious to see what the final tire choice is - Falken would be a definite upgrade from the current stockers.

I'm not into the faux aspect so much myself. But I did notice in person the other day (on a Tundra) that the beadlock does offer some nice coverage to the valve stem which is a nice thing in the rocks.

The Baja Tacos are lifted 1.75" and have the factory UCA's. I would assume all of the TRD Bro's are running stock UCA's too.

I have not had the same experience in a Raptor. My father-in-law has a '12 Raptor. It's pretty badass, but the ride is anything but silky on the road. It does better at high speeds, but road noise with the stock tires is an issue in my opinion.

Here in CO, my wife's friend's husband has one and I've enjoyed driving it so much I almost walked into a dealership and bought one before "Ford" and "insurance" came into my mind like a nightmare.

The roads here are so terrible that few vehicles give smooth rides. I think that Ford tweaked the suspension, and the newer ones ride much better.

If the TRD Pro is that nice, I might buy the suspension and install it on the Wife's Limited.

This was shot at the Chicago Auto Show on Toyota's off-road test course. Toyota ran the PRO vehicles through the course for the media, but during the public days Toyota says the trucks will be on static display only.

Thanks for sharing..
They guy said "bilstein shocks with xreas suspension" I think he meant KDDS.

However, that TRD armor looks promising, aluminum maybe? Other than that and the wheels... Nothing too crazy.

Nice hype though.

From what I have read earlier in this thread is it's suppose to be 1/4" "stamped" aluminum? I am not sure what the "stamped" means and if it makes it stronger/weaker, but I do wonder how it holds up as compared to the aftermarket offerings that are also 1/4" aluminum but just a flat "sheet" kind, lol.

Sure looks real nice though! It seems like it has an integrated filler plate section which is pretty cool :)

So when do the parts go on sale? I probably missed it in the thread so I apologize.

May be interested in the skid plates, suspension(I'll still wait a few years to evaluate if I actually need anything), and maybe even the shifter because I'm a dork.

Looks pretty cool but I'm happy I got a '13

I wonder if those plates will fit on 10' - 13' .. I think it would, frame didn't change from what I learned.

If I had to buy a new 4runner today it would be a 4runner TRD Pro for sure. The front exterior TRD PRO styling make the 4runner look much better than the original 2014 front. Cant wait to see the TRD Pro in white, has a white vehicle been seen?

You can probably just put 285's on this thing and be set!

I wonder how high the front is compared to a stock icon setting coilover? Looks pretty much the same to me.

He also wants the double cab and AT versus his access cab 6MT.

Hmm...I feel like it would bolt on to the frame just fine, my concern is I wonder if it will mate to the front 10'-13' bumper cover ok?

I would think it would at least fit KDSS models. Not so sure about non-KDSS. Maybe toyota will have a version for each?

My thoughts exactly! Throw on some 285's (maybe a BMC) and your GTG! I know it's not extreme enough for some, but for my use (hunting/ fishing/ occasional off-road), it's plenty adequate. I would love to have one in white.
Too much $$$ invested in the current ride though

...and would it mate to my RCI transmission skid plate? Probably not because I don't think it's as long as the RCI front skid, which replaces the stock front and mid skid. I think it's pretty cool too, though I would have to paint black .

Life is too short to worry about losing money on a vehicle trade man. If you like it and can afford it then get it! While I am not really old yet (except to my basketball team) I have been to way too many funerals lately and a few were younger than me. Yes, life is too short. Enjoy!
