4runner TRD Pro

Just like everything, it's Supply and Demand. It's a cool, limited edition package, and it will sell. Probably not to modders, but there are loads of wanna-bes.

I wouldn't call them wannabes. I'd call them "generally get little thrill or enjoyment modifying cars". I'm a powertrain engineer. I've built quite a few engines in my day. I just don't care for spending my free time getting a car where I want it to be when I can buy it that way. There was a post a while back about posting your ideal 4Runner. Other than a V8 or 8AT, the white pro nails it for me. Why try to build what I can buy when I'm not going to do a much better job (or considerably cheaper)? Yea, I could do an aftermarket suspension cheaper, but if it causes any problems or fails, it is all on me. Plus, if I needed to sell for whatever reason, a stock truck retains its value far better than a Frankenstein. Anyway, if the Pro fits your wants, buying it doesn't make you a wannabe. There are logical reasons to buy versus make.

Totally agree Quentin. I have built and modified way too many vehicles in the past. My job designing off highway equipment propulsion systems keeps the creative side going. My vehicles are stock because I bought (or will buy) exactly what I want from a performance standpoint. Looks? Function before form man.

The dealership just called me to ask if I want to wait until Jan for a Inferno Red or I could get a white or black one around the end of Oct. I originally wanted a white 4runner, but the Red was growing on me because it would have stood out. I told them to go ahead with the white one. He also told me that KDSS, softtex, nav and sunroof are all standard, but he has to wait a little bit to see what other options I can add.

Congrats! Is orange not available, or is that inferno red?

Inferno red is the orange. I have wanted a white car since I sold my last white one back in 04, but every time there is some BS reason why I ended up with a different color. That inferno red is awesome looking and I would take it if I could get it early then the beginning of next year. My deal isnt finalized because he can't see what other options I can add to it if I wanted, but I should be a little under sticker for it he said. 41,140 plus delivery. From what he said this morning, it comes with KDSS, Nav, and Sunroof so I dont think there is anything that they could add that I would want.

Nice!

It is my understanding that there are way more pre-orders in for the Inferno Red at this point. So much so that if you don't already have an order in that is is gonna be a while. This is also combined with the fact that the Inferno Red doesn't go into production until the end of August where as the White and Black both go into production early August.

The verdict is still out on the KDSS. My dealership is telling me there are no options with the TRD Pro. They are all the same with the same options. The only option is the color. The Toyota TRD guys I spoke with also seem to elude to this as well however they specifically told me that the TRD Pro will not come with KDSS. It is just all over the place now! I can't wait for the first person to get one and report back.

Not sure what your definition of a wanna-be is but why hate on a fellow Toyota owner? Even if they buy it for cruising the mall, they are supporting my favorite make and that is better for all of us in the end. I know plenty of modders and hardcore wheelers who want this truck bad and will build some amazing trucks when it is all said and done.

If the price is really in the 41-42k range, as reported, and there are no options, then there almost cannot be KDSS. A trail premium with KDSS is almost $41k, so there is no way they added all the extras and still kept it in the same ballpark as the trail premium with KDSS. It would entirely wipe out the market for trail premiums. I am pretty anxious to find out, going in to the dealer tomorrow to put down a deposit on a black TRD pro. I guess I'm a wannabee :biggrin2:

HAHA!

Yea I am with you, the numbers and options just don't line up. This whole thing is turning into big mystery which I am sure Toyota is enjoying the hell out of.
Again, I can't wait until the first few arrive and we get the real details.

Anyine knows if this model will be available in Canada ?? I called Toyota Canada and they can't say.. I cancelled my FJ Ultimate for this..

Sunroof yes
Soft tex upholstery yes
No trd intake or exhaust

All this is somewhat speculation till we actually see one, but it seems to be the consensus that this is what they wil come with. The big question mark is KDSS...

General Manager at my dealership sent me an email today that their Toyota rep says Kdss is not going to be offered. Still considering but pretty disappointed.

I probably wouldnt need in Northeast but would have liked to have it. Anyone have a good photo of a black trd pro 4runner?
Ive only seen one on the internet and its not a very clear picture.
