4runner TRD Pro

Cypher - Can't believe I totally forgot the TRD floor mats!!! Thanks for the reminder... Scratch all my other posts... I'm back in! You know... you tend to get lost in all the techy stuff and sometimes overlook the most important things like unique floor mats. ;-)

Cypher - you know I'm just playing right? I truly hope so...

Cypher - I agree with the Inferno for you. If I wasn't set on black for another purpose, I'd do that to! I'm curious, what are you going to do to yours? Are you losing the wheels? Thanks...

Ha! Totally know your are playing around. As am I with the floor mats. Honestly, in the end if you really want something, and it will make you feel good, it doesn't have to make sense. Does the TRD Pro really make sense? I'm not sure, but I still want one because that will make me happy. We all more than likely spend to much damn time doing things we have to do like work and less time doing things that make us happy. So in the end that is what really matters and it has nothing to do with material things, it is all about what makes you feel good.

That said, I am not positive exactly what I will do with it. It will for sure get a roof rack, ARB fridge, sliders, skids, front bumper, rear tire carrier, CB radio, Ham radio, maybe an awning, dual battery set up, solar panel, 285s, and more lift. We will see... It is gonna be fun!

I hear ya! I have always gone after what I like in life and have splurged on a few premium level cars/trucks before. It's too short to not enjoy it. I had a '99 black runner w/ the scoop. Best vehicle I ever owned. 190K before I sold it 13 years later and never in the shop for a single problem. Never. Just routine maintenance. This Black TRD for me is sort of the evolution of that truck but modernized & nicer in so many ways. I'm looking forward to it as you are. I've just never ordered a truck that I haven't seen in person & driven on the spot before purchasing. Can't be much different than the TEP I drove I suppose. Just a little more dive & body roll I guess... but hopefully a beautifully smooth ride.

My shortlist: ARB fridge 50qt, Gobi Stealth & ladder, sliders, 275/285s, Rotopax gas/water, Formula-One Ceramic tint, DroneMobile alarm.

Thinking about: ARKPAK, console-vault, possible extra lift, 40" LED bar.

*Solar sounds cool... are you mounting to rack or keeping mobile?

Nice! Sounds like you have some great plans... Congrats on the 190K Runner. Very impressive! I mount the solar panels to the roof rack. I have 2 30W panels on the FJ and it is amazing what they do for you. On a sunny day here in AZ, they run the ARB 50qt at 32F and charge the second battery all at the same time. One of the best mods I have ever done!

As for buying something you have never seen, don't let the dealer tell you that you can't walk away with your money if you don't like it. I also have a deposit down and can pull the rip cord at any time, including when it shows up if I am not happy with it. Your dealer doesn't want to get into a pissing match with you over a vehicle they know they will be able to sell to the next guy in line behind you. Plus, if you just hate the TRD Pro when it shows up just get them to move the deposit to a TE 4Runner and be done with it. Good luck and post pics when it gets here!

Good advice and thanks. I think it'll turn out ok... just been waiting forever and sometimes the more time you have to think, the more you discover & waffle!

Your solar setup sounds great! I sold my RV (mobile office) recently that had a 50w on the roof to charge the house battery. I'd love to know more about your setup sometime as I work from my vehicle on the road at times as a makeshift mobile office and would like to have available power for laptops, fridge and such without relying on the starter battery too much. Any pics of your FJ you'd mind sharing? No worries if a hassle.

I want to make this TRD my "go anywhere - work anywhere" uber-utilty truck.

Signing off for a week... on the road. Back soon.

Cypher - Could you describe your solar set up ?? Also what ham gear do you plan to install ? My 2013 TE has a Yaesu 350, Icom 706MkIIG w/ SGC tuner. 7 3's & Thanks ! :) Radio Safe :)

Very cool... I like the plans for your truck.

For the both of you: I think a new thread will be the best idea as not to hijack this thread with radio and solar installs. Give me about a month to throw up a thread somewhere else and I will PM you guy with the link. The Off Camber 2014 event that I organize is 4 weeks away right now and I am about to become extremely busy. Thanks!

I just got an email from the first dealer I was trying to get the Pro and they said they will have one in late September and be the first in my area. The dealer I ordered it from is telling me that the one I ordered won't be in until late October/November. Neither one will give me the price. What to do what to do.

What color did you order? Supposedly the inferno ones were going to start production later than the white and black.

I originally wanted an Inferno, but the dealer I ordered from told me that it won't be until Jan or Feb until I could get one. I didnt want to wait that long so I told them I would take a white one, which is the color I wanted for my last 3 cars, but I always ended up with something else. Everyday that I keep my truck I am losing value on it and to be honest I am just sick of it. I plan on keeping the 4runner until it dies. That might come sooner then later with the kids driving in a couple of years.

I hear ya - the wait is killing me too. I ordered a white one, and will be getting the first one my local dealer is getting - they said around mid-late September. I will find out the first week of September exactly when as that is when they get thier allocation for the 2015's.

I've decided to keep my 99 instead of selling or trading it in, done too much to it and can't get enough for it to be worth while.

Just got a call from my dealer and a white one is on it's way from Japan with my name on it. She told me she couldn't see a lot about the specs but she could see that it had Entune/Nav, sliding cargo, soft tex heated, running boards??, scoop, the shocks and extra rear reservoir, TRD wheels, off road tires, didn't mention sunroof or KDSS, so guess we will have to wait and see on that. She said mid September to hit the states and then train to KC for dealer allocation.

Getting nervous about trading in my Tacoma, been a great truck. 2009 OR DCSB white, only have 58,000 miles on it. But am excited for a 4runner never owned one.

Immediate mods would be to replace roof rack with Gobi or similar, weathertecs, and a Drive-By Truckers sticker! Probably sit on it for a while then and see about sliders.

My dealer just called and said my super white is being built today in Japan and they anticipate 3-4 weeks until they receive it. Now if my SW sliders from the group buy would just arrive in 3-4 weeks instead of 3-4 months I'd be all set!

No need to wait : Yes it has a sunroof , no it does not have KDSS.
