It's should not be necessary unless you go with a taller tire or possibly wider wheels. Or both together. The TRD wheels and Nitto Grappler tires are the same width and size as the other 3 models.

I hear you....but the pics of those being cut are on factory TRD PROS with same stock wheels and tires as mine...?

But yours is black version. Would make hard to see, but guarantee it is cut. It is the lower inner edge, across from the outer edge of tire (if that makes sense).

Turn your steering all the way to the right. Look at the lower fender edge in front of the left front tire. If the fender needs to be cut it is where the tire comes closest to the fender at this point. Don't be upset if yours all fit well and it didn't need to be cut. It's ok. It doesn't make it any less Pro. :thumb3:

Some of the initial TRD Pro's were delivered before they found the tire rubbing issue at one of the ports. Toyota put a hold on all TRD Pro 4Runners after the issue was determined, then they modified the vehicles that hadn't been delivered yet. That is why the first batch isn't modified. It happened in early to mid Oct IIRC.
The TRD wheels are 7" wide and the trail wheels are 7.5" wide. I'm not sure of the different offsets.

The sad thing about this is the fact that if the TRDP was left at the height of the prototype, this trimming more than likely wouldn't be needed. The extra height would put the front wheels a little further away from all edges of the fender and we wouldn't be having this conversation. I have seen this many times on other makes and models when folks install cheap leveling kits that raise the front end about 1-1.5 inches. As more than enough people can verify on this forum, a 3 inch suspension lift does not have this problem, especially if you had the same size tires that the TRDP comes with from the factory. While I do not claim to be a 4Runner expert, based on my reading, it doesn't seem than anyone with a 3 inch lift and 33in tall tires has this specific rubbing issue. Most tend to have tire rubbing issues on the inside of the fender to the rear of the tire. I am still just so surprised that Toyota "fixed" the issue with a hack job.
All that said, those of you like myself that plan to install an aftermarket front bumper will just be done with the missing paint and sad chop job. :deadhorse:

Loving the front grille of the Pro, but I think it may look even cleaner without the TOYOTA lettering across the front. Has anyone removed the letters? Do they come off clean like normal badging or are they not really removable? Any help would be appreciated.

My white TRDP wasn't trimmed. Delivered 10/3
The problem is when the wheels are at/near full lock. When at/near full lock the leading circumference edge of the tire would actually be even closer to the fascia if the front was slightly lifted as seen in the prototypes. This is why I suspect they brought the lift down.

I'm not good at photshop either. But I think it looks too clean w/ the TOYOTA removed. Plastidipping the letters black may look pretty good though.
put the toytec .75 spacers up front and got her aligned. All good so far and it seems to look better with the stance
who said I had a "right mind"?
BTW these crawl up anything very well. I made it up this loose dirt mountain in the highest setting of the traction control with the diff locked. the front was constantly adjusting the brakes to transfer power around for traction.
and let it be known you can get about two feet of air before bottoming. that's all I was looking to learn for future wheeling
