I wish I could find that deal around here....I have offered several dealers 40k for a TRDP with no luck. :

You're better off making it up with your trade in (if you have one). I paid msrp but got 3k more than the lowest I would go on my trade in, along with a few extras at no charge (tint, LoJack). I spent some time at the dealership and they managed to secure me one that day, but had to wait 3 days to pick up.

Cheers Popey for the lead! Just spoke to them, that truck sold yesterday as well...I think I'll hold tight this week to see if something pops up on a lot or in the system, and then after that, I will just order one up and wait.

Funny story - I was on my way to buy that truck and they called me to inform me that it just sold. I was halfway there and thought they were jacking with me. In hindsight I don't think they were - they had the only one available in DFW on their lot.

Handles great at 100mph, I couldnt believe how good it is. Especially after having a Porsche Cayenne GTS for 11,000 miles. This truck will not diss:first:apoint,trust me. Just remember it is what it is!! (Could use more power) Sorry i drive a GT3 on weekends.

New to the forum - have wanted a 4runner since my neighbor rolled down the rear window in his when I was a kid in 98! Stumbled across a pic of a Quicksand TRD Pro last week and had to have it! Closest one I could find to my was over 200 miles away. My girlfriend and I decided to go look at any color and try to drive it to make sure we liked it. Drove almost an hour to look at a gunmetal one and someone had wired them the money for it earlier that day. They had not picked it up yet so the salesman was nice enough to pull it inside so we could look at it. Now we were both interested.

A couple days later we found another dealer an hour away with a white one so we called this time and it was still available so we went to drive it. When we got there they told us the 2016 was sold but they had a 2015 with 20k on it. They let us drive that. They had a small test track with inclines and rough surfaces we were able to drive it on. We are coming from an Audi Q5 and still wanted something that would be comfortable to drive at highway speeds. We both enjoyed driving it and decided to pull the trigger as soon as we could find a quick sand one. Every dealer we were at had a different answer when asked about ordering one - Some dealers said 2-3 months and some said 6 months. Because of this we decided to try and find one in stock within 750 miles.

We spent the next few days calling every dealer with one advertised on cars.com and autotrader. Every single one was either a pre order or it had been sold. I still can't figure out why pre orders were making it all the way to cars.com but it was very frustrating. One dealer told me he could have me one in just over 2 weeks but he would not sell them for MSRP. Informed me he had sold 3 already and the cheapest was $47,500.

After all the frustration we decided to go to the dealer closest to our house and order one. The only option I really wanted, which I had only seen on one quick sand thus far, was remote start. All said and done the dealer said it will be here in early March - about six weeks.

Hopefully their time frame is correct - but after reading some of the posts here I am thinking it will be longer. I am also interested in how some of you got them below MSRP.

Either way we are very excited and it is going to look great in the garage with my 2014 Sand Camo Denim Harley Davidson Street Glide and 1981 Mojave Beige VW Rabbit Pickup!

Hi Midwesta, My dealership near San Diego wouldn't let me order one, but would only take a deposit ($500) to sit on a waiting list - waiting for an allocation. I put down the deposit Oct 17th and was third down the list at the time. I was informed last week that mine has been delivered to the port of Long Beach and I will be able to pick it up this weekend - so a total of 3 months waiting for me. Being on a wait list for allocation also means that I didn't get to choose the options - must take whatever comes in or wait for the next one. Fortunately the one delivered is white (my preference), but I am paying for the remote start (not needed in the SD area). I got mine for MSRP.

During my 3 month wait I contacted 25-30 dealerships within California and southern Arizona. For the most part they either 1) wanted a deposit to sit on the waiting list, or 2) told me I could get what I wanted for $2K-$10K over MSRP.

I had one dealership in No. California tell me they had one on a boat and when it came in I could have it at MSRP, but after it arrived they told me they were selling it for $5K over. They were total jerks.

Mine hit port earlier this week. Start to finish, I am anticipating exactly two months, plus or minus a couple days. Quicksand is awesome. I've only seen a couple photos that do the color any justice. The wait is killer, but I'm sure you'll love it when it rolls in.

Next step was searching cars.com to find the nearest infernos near me. As it tuned out, I was going to drive at least 250 miles to get one of the few left. I ended up finding one in Anderson IN @ Ed Martin Toyota. I was a little skeptical of doing a trade in value without them actually seeing the car.

I negotiated the same price on my trade in as well as get it some off MSRP (42,800 initially, 40,900 final). Everything went smoothly and was definitely glad I made the trip.

How much negotiating on your trade in price were you able to do? Did they offer you less and you were able to negotiate up?

Before I even began talking trade in I wanted to know what I could get off the 4runner. When I agreed on a price to pay for the 4runner, I began the negotiating on the trade in. I bought my Boss 302 a few months earlier for 34 so I wanted to get 32 out of it. I just flat out told them I wasn't doing any deal unless I got 32. They came back with typical negotiating stuff like "winter is coming and nobody wants sports cars now". They offered me 31,500 and I ended up getting what I wanted at 32. Keep in mind this was all done on the phone so I was skeptical of if they were going to keep their word when they saw the vehicle in person (not that I was hiding anything from them). The whole transaction went down smoothly, no curveballs. They actually had a quicksand on the lot but I wasn't a huge fan of the color. Would've been nice to get a '16 but wasn't happy with color choices.

It was asked waaay earlier in this thread and I never saw an answer, but what are you guys using product wise to clean the matte black wheels?

I Googled and found a company called "Chemical guys" and they have a product for the matte black wheels. Anyone tried it? Or have other options?

Maybe dealers are different in the central/southwest but I just put deposits down at two dealers and worked them against each other. Since it's all about allocation the dealers are happy to give you your deposit back since they have a badass truck on the way to their lot they might not have had if you hadn't put your hard earned $500 down.

Mine took 9 weeks from start to finish. I said a few pages back that there is a dealer here that gets them in consistently and will deal on them. Good luck, at the end of the day who cares what you paid if you're happy!

Just a heads up - the remote start is pretty much worthless. After you start it remotely, the engine shuts off if you unlock the doors or touch the break pedal. The range is rather pitiful also. I think the port or dealer can install it. My dealer installed mine.

You have to turn key two times to the right without turning the engine over and the remote start works as it should.

As far as the cars.com question. Dealer inventory gets put on cars.com before vehicles arrive on the lot and they stay on there even after they sell. I bought like 5 new cars in last three years so i learned this. If you owned a dealer you would want as much inventory as possible on your site to get people into your showroom. I got lucky getting my trd quicksand. Saw it on cars.com and it was due for delivery a week or so later. Toyota accidently messed up store numbers and sent the trd to ohio and not california where it was supposed to go. Cali store was pissed i heard that the ohio store was allowed to keep it. This is my first non car and i really like it. Only complaints are the lack of power in the engine and the mystery cold weather clunk.
