I haven't bought a new car in over a decade. Plus I see most of you are 4runner owners. I have some questions when at the dealer...

1. What additional fees should I expect the dealer to add on aside from the MSRP?

2. They ask for a $500 deposit, will there be a refundable form for me to fill out?

You'll be paying MSRP + taxes, title, license, and document fees.

Hi all, I have had my TRD for two years now and done a few things to it:



Shrockworks sliders, lifted the front with toytec spacers to level it out and numerous small mods (speakers (this is a big deal)) , etc.



I wanted to order a rear bumper (pref shrockworks) that has no spare tire carrier and will bolt on and allow me access to the spare. It looks like the shrockworks one requires drilling a hole for the jack tube and this is not something I want to do (please spare the flaming as my sis is getting one too and she wants a "easy" bolt on). Is there any manufacturer that offers a true bolt on that will only require some minor mods? I understand there are always going to be mods where the bumper meets the body for the appearance aspect.

I also spoke to my local dealer and they told me the same. I'm going this Thurs to put a deposit down on a cement as well. They told me between NOV and DEC the new 4runners will arrive to lots.

Got a call from my salesman this afternoon and he told me my truck (17 TRDP Cement) was already built and was just waiting to be shipped out. Definitely hard to believe that and I'm not getting my hopes up, but it makes sense if it takes about 6-8 weeks to come across and then go through the port. That would make the delivery date in the beginning of December.

I would definitely ask for a screenshot of dealer daily.

Just talked to one of the dealerships out in Utah. They eventually said they weren't getting ANY TRDs for '17. Back to the hunt.

Stephen Wade Toyota in St. George Utah - Super nice guys, but no dice on a preorder. [MENTION=129592]quicksandTRDPRO[/MENTION] just hooked me up with his spot out there - SUPER nice and said they could do a preorder, but could be delivered as late as March!

Not sure if the dealers can take deposits before allocation. Last year they couldn't (for 16').

Last year I preordered mine in September with $500 refundable deposit, production began in October and it arrived in December.

Two simple mods on my TRDP - painted the scoop insert and skid plate. Used leftover plastic dip for the scoop, took about 6-7 coats.

For the skidplate, I used Rustolelum spray-on bed liner, one can was plenty with some leftover for touchups. After that dried I taped off the TRDs letter and sprayed them dark red to match the TRDP rims.

My San Diego experience:

I got completely different answers from dealers here in San Diego on 2017s. Most would not take a deposit, Toyota Carlsbad finally did, $500, fully refundable. I got on their list at 10th in line, requesting Cement Gray. They feel that around half of the folks on the list, despite deposits, will bail on the purchase. They also guarantee selling at MSRP. Kearney Mesa Toyota said they be selling (attempting...) at $7500 over MSRP. Toyota of El Cajon would not take deposits and said first come first serve. Lastly, knowing how large Longo Toyota in LA is, I called there, I think they said their list was around 28 folks deep and advised that they felt it was unlikely they could get that many vehicles.

All over the map here....

With the advent of the new TRD models, I suspect that production volume will be much higher than 2016 for the TRD Pro, but that's obviously speculative.

You just need to come to the Midwest. We actually had some sitting on our lot not claimed prior to delivery. Also they wheeled and dealed a little on the price. Much better than these guys charging $7500 over sticker.

I don't get it either why the west coast guys pay way over sticker when you could buy one from the midwest and have it shipped back for cheaper. Surprised dealers are taking cash deposits on 2017s when there is no ETA on vehicles yet
