4runner TRD Pro

Don't get offended, just saying. That TRD badge is pretty.

You don't own a TRD Pro, or a 5th gen 4R. So why are you in this thread at all?

Oh wait, I get it.

You're one of those guys who tries to feel better about himself by trying to make other people feel worse.

But hey, if that's your thing, fill your boots.

Merry Christmas mate.

Nice truck by the way. I thought long and hard about getting a 4th gen V8 and doing it up right.

Man, you 5th gen guys are easily offended! Just poking fun at such shiny vehicles down in Texas haha.

PS - I've been on these forums for over 6+ years and surf where I please. :)

Hey, I feel your pain. I have a 2006 Audi S4 and when the new version was released, interest in my model waned on the forums. Gets lonely, I know. :(

Haha. Those B7 S4s are next on my list, been dieing to get an Avant...if it wasn't for those damn timing chains. Alright, back to the 4th gen forums...:deadhorse:

When deciding between a Trail or TRD Pro, resale was also a big part in choosing the TRD (and I wanted it in Cement which is a TRD Pro only color). If you're able to get a TRD Pro at MSRP or under, I have yet to see one sell in the secondary market for less than a 5% hit with 40K miles.

Had a B6 S4 Avant for over a year. Just sold mine. If you find a good one snag it up. People are paying a premium for the B6 and B7 S4 avants.

i ordered a 2017 TRD Pro in cement yesterday, but I am swaying back and forward on the options i went with. I decided against the roof rack crossbars and running boards as I want to get aftermarket ones, and also didn't go with the remote start as I have read that its not very good. I did go with the rear deck sliding cargo tray, but again not sure if this is needed. People with the deck are you glad you got it, and people without do you wish you had got it?

I have the rear cargo try and love it! Mine TRD package came with the rigid running boards and the rear slider tray. The tray has been useful on several occasions when loading mulch, or my portable grill when tailgating, or simply groceries. I too, have not heard good things here on the forum about the factory Toyota remote start. I went aftermarket with a Viper setup and its pretty sweet! Congrats on your order! Two more days and it'll be one year that I've had mine. Just under 14K miles and I love it! Only thing I'm not in love with is the Entune radio. I can live with the apps it comes with, but the NAV system is garbage! Wish they had just partnered with Garmin or Tom Tom. Also just know Toyota has disabled being able to input addresses & phone numbers when in motion; even for the passenger. I did purchase a work around harness for that and it gets me by.

I too, like scotsman, have one on it's way in January :fingers crossed:

They disabled nav input while in motion? Does the head unit come that way or is there some sort of OTA update? Not even a warning message while in motion that it's "not recommended and do you understand?" Interesting :dumb:

I'm interested to know more information about this harness you referenced to bypass the nav input snafu. Thanks!

Yes, nav, phone dialpad , and host of other items on the Entune radio are disabled over 3 MPH. There is NO warning message, etc. Basically, to activate it (the harness) you press the volume +/- button twice and you can input info. Then press it again to deactivate. The harness tricks the GPS into thinking you are at a standstill or under 3 MPH. Therefore, the vehicle icon on the screen doesnt move, until you deactivate the module. It takes only a couple of seconds for the GPS to catch back up. A bit of a PITA, but better than stopping on the side of the road or having to use my phone for the GPS. It also allows you to input anything else that would be grayed out while in motion. There is no known other hack or OTA update to rectify this. Toyota is being really harsh on the using of the NAV while in motion; not to mention they wont play nice when it comes to Apple carplay.

I have the two harnesses from Prestigious Society. One for the NAV and one for the anytime on for the rear view camera.

While those are no doubt a PITA, they cost $230 less than that solution! :censored:

I ordered my 17(Cement) TRD Pro the 5th December and was told some time in January would be the earliest I would have it.Cut the dealership a check to order it they won't cash it in until they receive the 17 to the dealership from there I have 72 hours to claim it.The options I opted for are as follows:Connectivity, sliding rear cargo, and maybe remote start(not sure about that yet). They Imputed my info with options in a order form in a Manila folder then stapled the check inside the folder after that they imputed all my personal info into there computer for the order.I was told by the manager that took all my info when it hits the port then that's when I have to decide on my options before they receive it to the dealership.I guess I'll see if I'll be receiving it sometime next month, fingers crossed

Do the TRD pros have a DVD player built in?

I like the cargo deck however the rubber mat over it never stays in place which can be annoying

No they do not. You'll need a 3rd party system; headrest DVD players, or the Prestigious society link I added above, you can hook up a free standing unit, or just scrap the Entune and buy an aftermarket HU. But by the time you add in the money for all the adapters for the steering wheel ctrls, and various things, not to mention a new faceplate and having it painted (if its a TRD-P) it may be just cheaper to buy the harnesses.
