4runner TRD Pro

How long have you been engaging your dealer on ordering the TRD Pro? I'm in contact with 2 in-state dealers, and they are both telling me that they are waiting to receive some on the lot before they can start talking allocations. At this point I want to put a deposit down and really harden my place in line but not sure how to engage.

I'm in CO and am now considering going out of state. Any suggestions or am I overreacting and too impatient? :)

Hey stop asking for one! You're my competition! Hahaha, jk.
Same boat here...I contacted Stevinson out in Golden/Lakewood...wait list is back to 2018! Plus, when I asked to put a deposit down in October, the sales guy said they can't take orders until December...wondering how their wait list got up to 40+?!!

Called Mountain States near Westminster and their waitlist for a cement gray version was 4 people long. They want a deposit, but I'm tentatively on the list without a deposit. That sales guy was a little better to discuss with...he shows 5 cement pros coming into the entire state...doesn't mean he is getting any. In fact he said they may get several or zero. But, he was confused why I couldn't pre-order with Stevinson, he agreed that was kind of strange.

Anyways, what dealers have you checked with?

That's strange to hear. I've only been talking with them for 2 full days. I contacted one dealer but the salesman was new and didn't know anything about the TRD PRO much less toyotas in general. I fought he'll even follow up with me when he realized I didn't call back. Then I called the dealer I bought my Tundra from. Got a more enthusiastic salesman. Told him I was listing my truck, and wanted info on the TRD PRO4 and when I could expect one. He logged into the system on the phone, told me how many were coming in on the first shipment, explained how to order one, etc. The next day I called and said I wanted to put down a deposit on the quote he sent me by email. He took my deposit over the phone by credit card and said he would look for a white one that becomes available to him otherwise he'll update me as the build comes along. 3 months tops he said. 6-8 weeks is their typical response for builds I believe.

I'm surprised they aren't taking your deposit. Then again, I'm not fully up to date on new cars and purchasing one before they hit the floor. Apparently some dealers are different.

Good luck.

Yeah, I am going to call the dealers later today and ask if any of them can see any inbound allocations, and lock me down.

When you gave your CC for a deposit, was there any paperwork you signed? A deposit is a deposit :D

That's crazy. I don't know how I should take that, should I be worried or not. My salesman didn't mention ANYTHING whatsoever about having to wait for 2018. That just seems crazy to me. As a matter of fact, he sounded confident that mine would be built, 3 months tops, or getting lucky and finding one that's allocated and not sold that he would try to snag for me.

Hey man, glad we talked! I have the same issue with the SAME dealer. Tells me he will take care of me but before they get them they can't take a deposit. I wrote to my salesman again to ask if they could atleast provide a quote. :fencing:

For those in Southern California, I spoke to my guy yesterday and he said 26 trd pros have come into the area for 77 dealerships. His dealership has 10 allocated for the year, a red trd pro already came in.

I have had a deposit for a white trd pro with them since January 2016 and am #6 on the list and will hopefully get one. Still not sure when. They take delivery every 15 days.

my dealer just emailed me that they have a white one(not spoken for) arriving in February, pm me if they want the dealer contacts. I am holding out for cement.

Holy shit. I'm surprised my dealer didn't go through all of this with me. I'm going to send an e-mail and ask.

My dealer was allocated one to build the first week of December. White in color. Options include roof racks, exhaust tip, all weather floor mats and roadside kit. I was told it should be here mid January. Paying MSRP which is $43,923. Dealer wont go down since there is already a line and everyone pretty much paying MSRP.

You going to try and get one? My salesman just reassured me today I will be getting the white pro I just ordered. I'm assuming at this point it will be 3 months from now.

Thanks for the welcome and th advice. I'll keep that in mind when negotiating. I was hoping for under $46k OTD, so good luck to me.

Nice - I'm picking mine up closer to Feb (hopefully). I paid MSRP which is a good deal from all my research and area I live in. If anyone has a better deal - LET ME KNOW!!! I am going to fly from LA to Utah and pick it up - hit some snowboarding on the way home and break her in. Looks like around 44k with a few options - and then I'll have to pay some ruthless California taxes.

How long until yours comes in?

Yeah I am getting this one. Already put a deposit and my name is on it. I originally wanted a white 16 Trail Premium but salesman couldn't get me one. Called me first week of December and said he had this on the way and asked if I wanted it. I told him heck yeah! Had no idea I would even have a chance of getting a PRO.

Nice, congrats! Well my dealer should see my order in their system next week, so I'm going to assume it will take the full 3 months to get mine :playball:

That trip sounds awesome for you, I'm jealous.

My truck:

'16 White TRD PRO
MSRP: 43,745
Tint: 399
OTD: 47,349.87

Comes out cheaper than my TRD PRO Tundra, so I'm ok with that.

Update : went with another dealer and he was able to take a build sheet. He took down my CC information and will run it for the $500 deposit when Toyota accepts the build. At that point I will have a VIN.

Crossing my fingers!

Good luck! They processed my deposit, waiting for the next week and I should get my VIN too!

Consistently inconsistent

If you read through the posts of the past week or so, it's almost comical. Some dealers profess to know their allocations for the entire year, some just the next allocation. Some know how many are coming into the state. some taking deposits, some not, some with waiting lists, some not. one post about a build sheet....first time I heard that one....my dealer said they can't order them....just have to take whatever is allocated. At least Toyota, working through their dealership network, is inspiring confidence with consistent messaging to their customer base...

I will agree that is doesn't inspire confidence on a guy wanting one. Finding the female unicorn seems like an easier task. I think I'm going the TEP route.

I would completely agree, as I am late to the thread and new to the boards. All I know is that my dealer took my deposit, showed me the order from my dealer to Toyota, and said I will be getting exactly what I ordered. I guess time will tell.

Good luck to all of your other guys. I got lucky with my Tundra PRO bc when I went to order they had one en route to the dealer so I took that one. I didn't get to experience the shit show of new production limited edition vehicles.

Where in Texas are you? I put $500.00 down for a 17 Cement TRD PRO on the 5th dec. and was told by the manager of the dealership to his knowledge they're not being made till the beginning of the year.I was told they don't even know if the sliding tray is coming on all TRD's standard or as an option even though Toyotas website shows on the build page as an option. 2nd or 3rd week is when they're suppose to have on allocated to them.(Fingers Crossed)
