And there is no way a PRO is going to sell for what you bought it for either since you most likely over paid. I understand you might be butt hurt from my opinions but let's be realistic here, the PRO is nothing special. It's a TE with fancy paint, black rims, trd pro badges, barely upgraded suspension, and a different grill...again I like the PRO but I also like to be smart with my money...which is an oxymoron because buying a $35000 TE is really not smart with money either. But I love my baby and it's the same truck as a PRO that was $7K cheaper.

Let's one further...I can change the grill on mine to a PRO grill for $400. Then change to the PRO rims for $1000. Then go out and get a full OME BP-51 or Kings all around for what??? $3500? So all we are missing is the fancy paint but we have a much better truck than a stock PRO and am still over $2K to the good if I only paid MSRP for the PRO and not more.

The PRO's depreciation is less than the rest of the trims.. There's more value in something that has a limited quantity compared to something that is common

No one is butthurt here, just trying to put a plug in your spewage of ignorance :mad2: . You can do your own research of the market like the many of us here who have bought them, but that is the fact of the market.

Heck, there's a dealer 40mi from me that is taking Trail Premiums, throwing the TRD Pro bumper + wheels and asking for 12k mark up. There's dealers in California charging 5k over MSRP. Fact is, they are doing this because there's people BUYING them out there for this cost.

Check the used prices of TRD Pros on sites like Edmunds or Carmax.com or Craigslist. So, I'm still waiting for you to cite an example of an SR5 or TEP that is still worth that much used after 3 years. :whip2:

It's not stupid, it's stupid because you don't understand simple economics: supply and demand. Those same people you called "idiots" are the ones that are driving the value of the TRD Pro to depreciate less than any of the other trims. eace:

Oh I understand the economics. That is why I have a Trail and thousands of dollars to spend on upgrades before I get to the entrance fee for the appearance package :tea:

And you won't be appraised for a single cent of those upgrades. You'll be appraised like any other Trail on the market. I'll ride my TRD value stock and know it'll retain it's value longer than the other trims. Worth it :llama:

Just so you know, I didn't buy this vehicle based on resale value. Buying a vehicle based on resale is another gamble altogether. So I didn't buy this vehicle for it's resale value. In fact I could care less about it because I plan on keeping this thing for a very long time. Slowly upgrading it as the years tick by. I am so happy I have saved myself thousands for those upgrades versus buying a PRO from the start. YMMV.:spy:

For the record, and we could certainly agree to disagree, but it is not Toyota who has laid such a drastic markup on these vehicles. Dealerships are individually owned, and can do as they please. Some choose to to do so because they know they can get that from the unassuming victim. As for proof of price difference between trim levels, in 2014 I purchased a TEP w/ KDSS expecting the TRD Pro to come out at a much higher price than it did. Upon first release in late 2014 I traded in my TEP for a Pro and the MSRP difference was exactly $200. Again, this was a TEP w/KDSS and nothing else, against a Pro, stock, nothing else. So your claim of $7k is a bit exaggerated based on Toyota's figures, but agree that there are dealerships who are taking advantage of buyers/ limited production numbers. This is also however the same dealership tactic used, which I just saw promote a leveling kit on a Tundra priced at an additional $9,995! I guess my only point is, I don't think Toyota is to really blame, and for a factory SUV they certainly did not "drop the ball." Unfortunately some... errr, MOST dealers can be filthy creatures and truly do not care about the customer or the brand representation, but more so about their revenue. Just my $.02

Just picked one up for my wife. Msrp was 44,300. Had remote start, mats, and roof rack which made msrp higher. I didn't even know you could get factory pro remote start. Got it for

1,000 under msrp. Was surprised my local dealer got one unclaimed. Some guy tried to buy it as i was negotiating but i told his salesman it already sold to me when he asked my salesman for the key lol. Funny thing is that guy ended up buying an sr5 for only 4k less than me. My 4 runner was next to his when he drove off after buying it and his sales guy told me that guy was really pissed i got it before him. I guess im just surprised he bought one after not getting a trd.

Wondering if I'm crazy, right/wrong, or if it's just an allusion due to the TRD black accents, but do you feel that the Barcelona on the TRD Pro "pops" a little more than on another trim? I was dead set on Cement and went with it, but the more I see the Barcelona's, I wonder what if I had... I just also wonder if they got a little mix from the Lexus side of the house.

Ugh. This argument is worn out. The Pro is not the same as a TE. It would have been closer to a TEP. But they don't call it that anymore. It's an Off Road Premium now. Brings the pricing much closer.

Your assertion that people are paying big premiums over MSRP is wrong as well. Most on here are paying MSRP for their Pro. People are paying MSRP for their TEPs or off road premiums too. Maybe slight discounts here and there.

Also, if the TRDP is "not special," then why are all of the automotive journalist reviews so positive? Hmm...

Last thing, why are you on this thread? Just to run your mouth and then partially hide behind saying, "but I do like the TRDP." Sounds like you're upset you couldn't get one and are sadly wanting to put others down to make yourself feel better. Let it go and do something else with your time please.
