4runner TRD Pro

Left the Runner world for a year. Went to a RR Sport SC. While I will forever have the rover virus. I couldn't forget my Runners! I walked away from a 16 TRDP in Gray, went to the RR. While it was good to me, capable, and a formidable road going warrior. I never felt so pretentious!

Was able to grab a 17 cement (the reason I originally walked on the 16) from my local dealer, its in A cat on DD. I am pretty happy to be back. Deposit set last night, and bumpers, rails, rack, suspension ordered today.

If anyone is wondering why Im back? Look at the prices the used TRDP are getting, its a no brainer. Any 4runner is a no brainer on value but how do you deny driving a car for a year and basically doing so for free? The RR? hahaha Im still bleeding from the anus on that..

Ill post pics regularly once she's on the tarmac.

Totally agree - resale is amazing on these - especially in California. I'm 130 miles in on my new Super White one... loving it. Waiting on all my mods.

Ok great. Thank you.

In park, click "display" on your steering wheel. You can find it in "settings" in there. Pretty simple.

For you guys who have one in snow, how are the nitto tires in it? I spend a lot of time in the cascades snowshoeing etc. Up here we either are required to carry chains or have traction tires. I'm pretty sure the nittos aren't snow rated (snowflake on tire). Would one of you guys look at the side of your tire to see if it does? Just wondering if I need to fork over another 1k for bfgs

Nitto Terra Grapplers do not have the snowflake symbol on the sidewall.

iPhone Mirroring/Nav

Hi all,

Waiting on my Cement TRDP. For the 2017 model, is there a way to mirror your iphone or any smartphone for that matter ? Is the integrated Nav any good ? I am assuming connectivity is using your mobile data, is that right ?

Sorry for all the questions, just getting ready :)

Thanks !

Hello! I tried the integrated Navigation prior to installing the Bluetooth from my android phone and it worked without using mobile data. I was curious about the same thing because I didn't want to use mobile data. I have since linked my android phone by Bluetooth, but I haven't activated the entune suite. I'm good with the radio. I used the Navigation on Saturday and it worked very well. But if you want to use Entune, yes it uses your mobile data.

Ok, so I went and got the manual out and page 86 and 87 discuss how to turn off the eco drive indicator light. I learned something in the process, so thanks. I hadn't paid any attention to the disp button on the steering wheel and I see one of the displays shows you average miles per gallon, amongst other things. Hope that helps.

Thanks a lot i appreciate it

we just went all through ours last night. we did a purchase. MSRP was 43794, 5k down, and 2.84@72 months at about 650 and some change.

Numbers don't add up. With 5K down, your payments should be $587 unless you've added bunch of other stuff that dealership offers, thereby increasing your loan amount.

Asking what other's are paying is really irrelevant to your situation. Look up an auto loan calculator online and figure out your own payment based on your individual circumstances. You will get such a wide variety of what people are paying because we all came into these vehicles with different amounts down and for different lengths of terms.

My bad... should have been more clear. the MSRP was 43794, not including taxes and licensing, etc, which equated to about 5k. so my down payment essentially paid that so my loan amount came out to what the MSRP is. Dont have the exact $ amount but was around what MSRP is.

For the record, and we could certainly agree to disagree, but it is not Toyota who has laid such a drastic markup on these vehicles. Dealerships are individually owned, and can do as they please. Some choose to to do so because they know they can get that from the unassuming victim. As for proof of price difference between trim levels, in 2014 I purchased a TEP w/ KDSS expecting the TRD Pro to come out at a much higher price than it did. Upon first release in late 2014 I traded in my TEP for a Pro and the MSRP difference was exactly $200. Again, this was a TEP w/KDSS and nothing else, against a Pro, stock, nothing else. So your claim of $7k is a bit exaggerated based on Toyota's figures, but agree that there are dealerships who are taking advantage of buyers/ limited production numbers. This is also however the same dealership tactic used, which I just saw promote a leveling kit on a Tundra priced at an additional $9,995! I guess my only point is, I don't think Toyota is to really blame, and for a factory SUV they certainly did not "drop the ball." Unfortunately some... errr, MOST dealers can be filthy creatures and truly do not care about the customer or the brand representation, but more so about their revenue. Just my $.02

I walked around the dealership today while my vehicle was being prepped. The dealership was adding an additional 10k mark-up to the MSRP for Pros with a firm price notice. This was for all TRDP models, including Tundras (which was the only Pro on the lot).

I asked my dealer about it, and he said it's because the resale value on the Pros is high, that people are trading them in a year or two later and getting close to original MSRP. The dealership was losing money. I didn't fully understand as I would assume the dealer would sell it at a higher price than they paid for the trade. Additionally, supply and demand was driving market price. He did say with that, he didn't understand the mark-up on Tundras as there isn't a high demand for that model.

As long as people are willing to pay, there is no incentive from dealerships to do differently.

Please do be aware that dealerships...actually I'm going to be broader on this, let's say all sales people, are not exactly known to be the most honest people in our society. They will do whatever and say whatever to keep you thinking that their products are hot stuff.

The dealership is not losing money. They are crushing it in profits for every trd they sell for msrp but aren't getting true value. If i was a gm of a dealer I would markup every trd and it would sell eventually sell. By marking it up to a value that some people will pay, they also will get people in the door who won't pay over sticker but might buy another 4 runner instead. I saw this on saturday. Someone else came to the dealer to buy the trd i got and even though they were pissed it sold they bought an sr5 and left in their new sr5 right before me.

Im gonna also take a guess and say that dealers will be more educated about the trd pro next year and I wouldn't be surprised if most of them all go for way over msrp if and when they make 2018 trd. Prices this year are higher on markups than last year. I expect that trend to continue.

Which CO dealership is marking up Pros that much? The only 4Runners I have seen with that type of price increase are the dealership-built Pros (Toytec lift, 33s, Pro badging, etc).
