4runner TRD Pro

In my mind, the market is broader than just the dealerships in a state/region. Thus, it leads me to believe that those who are price gouging above the manufacturer's suggested retail price are not displaying honest business practices. Sure, there's supply and demand. Call me old-fashioned, but I think price gouging is dishonest and unethical.

You can think what you want lol but until people quit paying, dealers will keep charging the big prices. Go back and read the past 10 pages. Some of these guys will pay anything to get their hands on the 4Runner of their dreams! Dealers just rub their hands together and count the cash, and that's why there is an adjusted market price. Why sell it at $45K when people are lined up to pay $55K? Again, supply and demand.

TRD Pro markups of 10k plus and there's still people that deny the value/worth of these TRDs, smh :lookout:

The "worth" of something will ALWAYS be governed by the laws of supply and demand. If people continue to demand the product and the supply is low, price goes up. This goes for absolutely every single product, not just 4Runners. Perfect example - Food in airport terminals beyond the security gates...

Placed my order/deposit for a cement in late Feb and texted the salesman if he had heard anything. He said he still has a white one coming in if I want it, but other than that he hasn't received word about being built or processing or whatever. He also told me that Toyota just quit all production on the Tacoma TRD Pro. The cement color is also just in crazy demand and Toyota is probably going to stop them too. Then reassured me that my order is safe though. Soooo not sure when it'll come in:Cry:

Buuuut I check the Toyota inventory every morning for my zip code and this morning it had the exact one with all the options on there. Not sure if they just started building it or it's about to head here or what, but that's what cued me to text the guy. Hope someone figures out the true meaning of the inventory website for the Gulf States Region.

Well there's only 1,000 TRD Pro Tacoma's according to Toyota's website, so he could be right. And there's not many cement colored of the 3 in my radius..

I also had one dealer offer to make a off road premium a pro to get a sale. I looked at him like he was crazy and when I said not a chance he looked at me like I was crazy. Same truck, yes, same resale value I doubt it. Especially when the vin doesn't match the trim. plus I'm not a big fan of making it something it's not just to say I have something that it is not.

Serious question: How much do you think the TRD Pro will be worth (use sticker price for base) in five years? 70%? 90%? Now, how much do you think the TRD Off Road Premium will be worth in five years?

IMO both will depreciate. The 4Runner (any model) retains the second highest residual value out of all vehicles after three years. I think the number is 72% of MSRP. Now, I think the TRD PRO specifically will be about 10% better at a whopping 82%. That's good, but if you pay a 20% premium (market adjustment) up front then you lose. If you only pay a 10% premium you lose. You win if you pay MSRP or below. But truthfully, nobody wins when buying a vehicle. They always depreciate no matter what. Buy any model and fix it up to your liking. Enjoy, drive and trade it in for a new one in a few years... or keep it for 20 years. Pretty sure all models will be worth the same 20 years from now no matter what you paid for it. Then it becomes all about condition.

Repeating the same thing doesn't make you anymore right. It's business, it's legal, and most (included the word most as I am sure there is a person on this site that will claim they were blindsided) times transparent.

Think about when you go to sell your 4Runner. Will you feel dishonest and unethical selling it with only a modest loss due to the wonderful resale of these vehicles?

To be clear, I was repeating myself to better articulate my thought process.

I understand what you're saying and I do agree with you.

I think cement and quicksand will hold the most value. Probably 95 to 100 percent in three years.

2014 FJ Cruiser Ultimate Edition with 200 actual miles just sold. Mint condition. Only 2500 of them ever built. It sold for basically it's new sticker price.

If you plan on buying a TRD PRO, putting it up on blocks in a garage then I agree, you will get sticker price after three years. If you drive it as it was meant to be driven? It's all about condition at that point, not rarity.

The great thing is it's a 4Runner and they all hold their value well.

Here's the DEALER ONLY AUCTION prices the 2015 TRD PROS are selling for in the fast 60 days. These are the prices that DEALERS are paying for, so trade in value should be same or very close! (notice the INFERNO sold for the same price as new!)

GREEN= above average (or close to perfect condition)
WHITE= average condition (maybe a nick here or small scratch there...average usage for that amount of miles and year it is)
YELLOW= below average condition (usually vehicles that were not very well taken care of, many scratches, windows broken, tears in seats...)

It's not dishonest or unethical. It's basic economics. You are just on the losing end of this one.

Put another way, if you were trying to sell your house, but you felt it's now worth more than when you bought it, by you marking the price up, you would be "gouging" the next buyer. That's just the way capitalism works.

The best part is, if that mark up isn't worth it to you, you don't have to pay it! (But then you don't get the TRDP...) or you just find a dealer that isn't marking them up.

Very good! Is that nationwide?

The gray one is Seattle is at Toyota of Kirkland for $47,000. Its an Arizona car. Decent shape but some scratches and nicks for under 5,000 miles.

is there any way to track a pro without calling the dealership? i was told mine would be arriving at the port tomorrow but i have the VIN and would like to be able to know when it gets close to getting on a truck to head my way. despite my requests i have a feeling the next time i hear from the dealer it will be sitting on the lot waiting for me to pick up and i want to be there before that point to ensure it doesnt get drilled with a front plate bracket

I just picked mine up yesterday. so from the point it was put on a truck to dealership was about a week have no clue why. i called on the 5th and they said it was marked as put on freight that morning (truck) and was set to arrive between march 8th and march 13th. On sunday march 12th, they called and was notified that it should arrive on the 13th, and had me come in to start the paperwork. so you should be notified the day before. I picked mine up in Olympia.

Got the CEMENT!!

Got my Cement last night in Olympia. Got talked into getting extended warranty 10yr/100,000 warranty covering drivetrain and electrical for $1730. Originally quoted at $3800. Earlier in the convo, he praised the reliability of these things, then i told him i dont need the warranty because i believed his statement of it being reliable and if he stood by his comment why is it needed... lol didnt know how to respond and basically said he will cut it down to near cost and dropped it by more than half. Supposedly I am paying $10 more than cost. Did anyone else get any of the extended offerings, ie gap, warranty, etc..

No warranties here - first Toyota purchase here and I was only thinking of warranties if I bought a non-Toyota... like a Jeep GC (thank god I didn't). I expect Toyota quality so hopefully nothing breaks... and well, if it does, I spent 50k so surely I can afford a repair.

I was originally going to go for a white but it was always a close second to Cement, but went with what I thought was the more unique color. I have been getting compliments on the Cement every day. At the end of the day, it's your ride and you need to ride what you think will mkae you happy

You can get an 8yr/100,000 warranty for ~$1000 from a different dealer. Search for a thread or post by gamester5.

Yeah I would shop around for the warranty for lower price. Search on this forum. You can cancel warranty within 30days and get money back. That's if you care. *also he could have dropped it way more
