5 months later and after putting down a deposit at 5 different dealerships one has finally arrived at the dealer. I'm picking her up next weekend in Washington and driving down the coast to California.

op2:I saw my first cement trdp in person yesterday. When I came out of the store he was parked next to me checking out mine. Mine was the first red he had seen. I gotta say the cement really looks great. But also have to say I'm glad I changed my order back in dec to red. Everyone has their tastes. I initially wanted cement only because it was the unique color but then came to my senses and decided to get what appealed to me.
And don't get me wrong. I'd take any of the 3, whether it's elephant poo, storm trooper white, or kick ass red.
Sorry cement and white owners. After the last guy I could not resist tossing that in in a weak attempt at getting a chuckle outta ya.

You should weigh the cost of the PPF vs the depreciation hit you'll take for repainting the front end. And it's not that expensive. I did my ENTIRE STI for $6k. The most I've ever paid besides that was $2k and that was the entire hood, front bumper, fenders, headlights, fog lights, a-pillars, side mirrors, rocker panels, lower 1/3 of the doors, and the rear bumper behind the back tires.
How much are you paying?

I paid $450 to have my PPF guy do the front bumper/headlights/fog lights in Suntek. Xpel is way too overpriced. Just a little piece of mind knowing I won't have any rock chips

$6k to protect the paint on a $35k car is insane to me, but in a way, I get it. We love our cars. But I love my money too. Can't justify over 15% of the car price to protect the paint.

X2...my '05 has spent it's entire life outside. The factory paint is not perfect but it looks good and has held up well. I do have a couple of minor paint chips, but at this point a quality paint job would exceed the value of the vehicle. I do think some limited application of protective film may be beneficial, especially along the leading edges of the hood and front fenders. The factory does apply a strip of protective film along the rocker panels of the gen 5, which I like.

It was $6k to protect the ENTIRE car. But I didn't do it for the paint protection. I used Xpel's Stealth film which gave the paint a matte finish. I could have wrapped it for about half of that but vinyl is notorious for pulling the clear off of cars with thin paint, like a Subaru. It also doesn't protect like PPF nor does it remove as easily.
My typical front end installs ran $1700-$1800 with is more than worth it.

What I did on my STI was not in the realm of normal installs. I usually spend $1700-$1800 and that covers the entire front end, fenders, lights, fog lights, mirrors, a-pillars, and the leading edge of the roof. If you're ok with seeing seams you can cover a LOT less and spend a LOT less.
The roughly $1000 that most people spend is orders of magnitude better than repainting a car

I ordered a gobi no rise stealth in February. It's supposed to be here in may. I ordered that one for the specific purpose of hauling a canoe and camping gear. Didn't like the price but it is the one that fit my needs best.
I'm gonna build a bolt on mod for the rack just for loading the canoe from the side as I can see the spoiler being a problem.
Are you sure about that? That would be a major undertaking to install all that at the port. I do know if willing to pay MRSP, you can get one fairly quickly (On the west coast). I have a 2011 and I want to replace it soon but have been holding off until I get some firm idea on what they are doing in 2018. I love the 4runner, but it has has a seriously oudated drivetrain. The Tacoma has a 6 speed along with the new V6 so it's a real head scratcher why Toyota has not upgraded the 4runner.
The taco 3.5 with 6 speed makes it feel like you are driving a venza. Takes the truckiness away
My dealer just told me he probably cannot get a White TRDP and that a Cement/elephant/whale color is all he has coming into Seattle soon.
The cement has my name on it if I want it and today I was able to see a Cement TRDP in person. I was right. It looks flat and like it needs a paint job.
But ITS A KILLER VEHICLE for people who like the color. Some people don't like white or red. Big tucking deal.
The color works better on a pickup. I was being nice when I said its a cool color but now screw it I will go with honesty.:sorry:
It sucks because I was excited to see cement in person but there is noway I am spending $45k on a color I dislike.
My advice to anyone is to see a cement 4runner in person before buying it because you might experience color remorse like the dude in Washington who changed his mind immediately.
Its a big bad world out there and guess what? Toyota didn't hit a home run with the cement color.
Now back to my PS4 and gaming diaper. MOM! Wheres my meatloaf!

Read up on what a lot of people have to say about the new taco drive train. Then go test drive one. That's what convinced me to go with the 4runner. I personally liked driving the 4.0 better and it's tried and true.
