4runner TRD Pro

Picked up my cement TRDPro today! Got in too late to do a pic.

One thing that was surprising is that I figured the suspension would be a bit stiffer. I notice it bobs when I put on the brakes and has body roll and I had hoped it would have been stiffer. Difficult to tell the shocks and springs do much. I didn't drive a PRO before I purchased as there were none. I had planned to keep it stock but now I don't know - may have to do something about that.
Other than that, AWESOME!

I don't know what you are coming from, but you should go drive an SR5 and Trail w/o KDSS. It will help you realize how nice the ride of your PRO really is.

i've been very pleased with the ride and handling of my pro after 1 week. i do notice slight brake dive but other than that, i have no complaints. for what the pro is, i would say the handling/body roll is much better than i actually expected.

Pleased with the ride too, I don't think the body roll is that noticeable at all.

I ordered the TRD brake pads as an option and they came in about a week after my Pro. I may not have had enough time with the stock pads, so I don't think I noticed the brake dive, but there is considerably more bite with the TRD pads now.

Just a FYI. Keep an eye out on your rear reservoirs. I have to adjust mine. Slowly got close to the body and know clunks against it. Need to loosen and lower it a little. Check to see if bolts are loose. If so tighten.

Anyone in CA or NV looking for a Cement at MSRP?

Anyone want to take over my spot before I cancel it? PM me. I lucked out and picked one up already. This spot is 1st in line for the next dealer allotment. THX!

Question to all of you that picked up your new Pros.. do you miss not having a moon roof? BTW I'm jealous as I don't have mine yet!!

Definitely miss my sliding sunroof from my Highlander.. it's so weird if you get a TRDP in Canada it comes with sliding sunroof and turn signals on the mirrors. not sure what would make those options unavailable in the US.. between those two and the JBL audio not being available, those would be my biggest gripes

First thing I noticed coming from a 2014 Tundra 4x4 was that the Pro 'wandered' in its lane and pitched on bumpy roads quite a bit more but overall it rides stiffer. I really love the Pros suspension as it rides beautifully, particularly in the type of terrain that I frequent most often (desert and forest service/fire roads)...but you'd better HOLD ON for the ride if you have to panic stop this thing on pavement (at speed) I've never been caught so off-guard by a braking/suspension system. Dont get me wrong it still stops quickly and fairly straight, but how it reacts when you initially hammer the brakes is on the borderline between scary and terrifying.Trust me, you'll see what I mean !!

The wandering is real--I initially thought it was my imagination. I definitely feel like someone out of a movie from the 70's/80's where they had them driving in front of a green screen on a straight road, yet the driver is constantly turning the wheel side to side.

The nose diving upon heavy braking is also real, but I think that's the price you pay for softer springs up front that handle rough terrain the way the TRDP does.

Pretty firm ride here. No complaints. Maybe somethings faulty with your suspension?

Hope not. Don't know. I do know that one of the first things I did was test out the braking from speed. I was shocked at just how much nose dive there was.
I think the fellow who said it depends on what you are used to was spot on. I had too high an expectation of the fine tuned TRD PRO heavy duty suspension as far as firmness goes. I'll either get used to it or upgrade. I love the truck overall!

Do you think the difference is such that a stop from 60 to zero would be several feet quicker with the TRD pads?

saw someone refer to the Cement as elephant color on here.. ha. the other day someone told me the loved my Cement TRDP and it reminded them of a Navy vessel... never thought of it that way, but it def does look like a battleship

This sounds reasonable. One of my problems is I came from driving an extremely stiff suspension so it will take a week or so to get used to this one. It doesn't ride bad to me at all, but I would prefer just a bit more stiffness in the suspension.

Yes - this happened to me. It'll stop when you want it too, but you'll take a nose dive. I had some jerk slam on the breaks in the left lane on I-70, and I slammed on the breaks so hard in response. Holy SHIT what a nose dive.

It's tough to say.

I only drove on the stock pads for a week before the dealer received the TRD ones and installed them. In that time I don't think I really got on the brakes hard. Like I mentioned above, there definitely seems to be more initial bite when you hit the brakes now, and that is completely new since having the TRD pads installed....I noticed it almost immediately.

Was anyone else expecting a port delivery date of today? I checked with my sales rep, but haven't gotten an update. I know I'm still a ways off, but any news is good news at this point.

Had some dive also until replaced front suspension...much better now!

I also noticed the wandering on the highway. This is largely contributable to the tires. The stock Nittos are known for a mushy on-road feeling. Also makes it more compliant over bumps. I'm betting that switching to KO2s would resolve some of this. Especially if you're willing to go E rated. Which I'm not.
